Overcloking lowest ram frequency

So I have this Hyper X DDR4 8GB 2400mhz and I'm planning to buy new one with  Hyper X DDR4 8GB 2666mhz. But we all know dual channel memory will use the lowest frequency. So my question here is what if I overclocked the 2400mhz to 2666 so they have both had frequency is that possible to work? Will both ram gonna use 2666mhz?

People have mixed experiences running mixed matched memory.

In theory, they will both work generally at the lower frequency. You would have to overclock the slower one to 2666mhz and hope it runs it without errors and "tweak" perhaps the voltage and timings to make the accomplishment.

If the Hyper X boots 2400mhz when clear cmos, this is a Jedec speed and may even be the same as the XMP if it has one.

___________

TLDR: Won't really know till you try it and find out and come back and tell us your experience so others can view it.
