is it worth to give back my 1600af and buy a 3600 for 40euro difference?

I'd say it is since I upgraded from a Ryzen 1600x to a 3600 paying the full CPU cost.

That depends. The 1600AF was a no brainier when it was under 100 euros, but with it being priced similarly to the ryzen 5 2600, the value isn't perfect.

 

The question remains, does it have the performance you are looking for? If it does, that extra 40 euros does not get you anything.

i have it since the end of march more or less. didn't notice any need to upgrade to be honest, just thinking that maybe can be a little more "future-proof". that thought brought me here

If you didn't notice the upgrade, you may well not notice the upgrade again. What resolution/refresh rate are you targeting? What games? Is your monitor able to deliver?

i have a c24g1 from aoc. 1080p 144hz. now i'm playing red dead redemption 2 without issues, don't know in the future, Civ VI maybe, doom, valorant, horizon zero dawn probably.  targeting at least 90/100hz

The 1600 AF should be doing just fine in those games at that performance, I think you should hold off if you really want a performance boost when 4th gen ryzen rolls around.

If you have the 1600AF now I personally think it's to much work, just keep it. If pondering which to buy then 3600 is better overall.

well i bought it on amazon so it not that much work to do, and i have revived an old laptop with pop_os so i can still work as intended. still thinking about it, is just that 40€ is almost half of what i paid for my 1600af and i'm really not sure if i will ever notice the difference
