Your Folding Rig(s)

I just started on the 10th of January, and I'm already at 1 million points (not sure if that's average or not) I fold with a GTX 960 and an 8 core I7 4790. I plan on building another one with an AMD FX processor and twin 780ti, however I have to save up for it first.

What did happen to PrimalNaCl?

You know how it is, the cow goes "moo", the dog goes "woof" and the gamer goes "The PvP is unbalanced."

I had a 980ti at 1450mhz, 2600k stock, and 280x at 1100mhz this gave me between 750000-850000 PPD. Now the 980ti is used for boinc until I get 100mil there.

I use my primary PC, 4690k 5GHz, GTX970, and two other PCs which have q6600s and a total of three 7970s and two GTX 480s and one 660ti. I'm somewhere around #99 on the LTT team with 26,000,000ish points

Whaler_99 has a couple quad Opteron systems folding.

Does it still make sense to build a 4P system for folding, or are u better off just getting a gtx 970/980 ti? (in terms of PPD/$)

Folding for LTT since April 2016.

Figured on my own as well that CPU folding wasn't really worth much as well.

 Anyhow specs are as follows

I built a folding rig at the start of the new year, and wanted to share it with you all.

zkWe56F.jpg

It primary consists of four EVGA GTX 980 Ti Hybrid video cards, running on an MSI Z170A motherboard. Other parts include an i5-6600K (Noctua NH-U12S cooler), Corsair AX1500i PSU, 256 GB Samsung Pro SSD, and 16 GB of G.Skill ram. All in a Rosewill Blackhawk-Ultra case.

Folding@Home output is 2.2 million PPD. (Extreme Overclocking stats)

(Apologies to the die-hards here, but I have deeper ties to other communities and am not running this on the LTT team for now. Don't worry, it's still doing science. ;) But I'm still a member of the LTT community and wanted to share.)

i7-4770k and 2X gtx 760.

I've only been folding for two days so I don't know what my average WUs or PPD are yet. During my awake time I only fold on the cpu but at night both gpu slots and the cpu slot. What I do know is that in the last 24 hours of folding (only 15 hours on gpu slots) I've completed 6 WU worth 7470 points which sounds extremely low.

I just got a dell poweredge 1950 iii (dual xeon E5405s, 15 GBs of ram) last night and it does not put out very many points.  you might just want to get a used 290 or a 680 and throw it in your main rig.

Edit: forgot to mention if you do go the server route make sure your server's PSU has spare pcie connectors.  A lot of OEM servers PSU's don't come with extra cables for expansion so you'd either have to use graphics cards that are under 75Ws or put in a new PSU which might need some ghetto modding to do.

my main PC was built for gaming and only folds about 8 hours a day. I may not get the server but I was going to get a new PSU and maybe a video card. in my first 8 hours of folding I did about 15,500.

I just use my main computer. It has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960. According to F@H's control panel, I could get 170k points per day, but I really only run it when I'm either asleep, not using the computer, or lightly using my computer.

new rig, for gamming and folding 24/7
Intel Core i5-6600 6M
GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 960 4GB Mini ITX
get anywhere from 100k to 140k a day in points
i am thinking of adding one more 960 i think my evga 600w pws could handle it.

i dont think that works tbh i'm pretty sure you should be getting well over 3 million ppd and 2 of those cards wont be running at 100% usage with the 4th card maybe running at 25% usage
