Old gigabyte board dosent post (keyboard controller chip problem)

No, STOP.

I'll edit this message to add more  but you guys are posting too fast

The light brown / cream are capacitors. If you try to measure continuity with a multimeter it will show as open, because that's how capacitors function.

When there's no room to put text near a component, often the markings for that component or for a group of components is somewhere else in a rectangle. In the picture, the text for the parts above is in that rectangle to the right of the connector. So, that row of blacker parts is FB39, FB 37 and so on, and the capacitor you circled is probably C87 (what's above C88, C89 etc in that rectangle)

Those blacker parts could be fuses or they could be ESD diodes (protections diodes in case you zap the port with static electricity).

FB could also mean feedback in some context, as in resistor or capacitor used in a feedback circuit. Unlikely to be this in this particular case.

Oh thats interesting.  It does make sense its a protection.

Did you find any fuses to test?

If you cannot find anything bad on the board, it's only about 9 dollars for the part you're looking for. worse case scenario, you gather a bit more soldering skills and more information on how computer motherboards are designed

I dident find any other fuses...

Mmm i already have the soldering skills.  I mean im not good at it but i know how to use a heat gun or soldering iron.

Its finding the knowledge of how mobos work there are a lot of different ones

And i couldent find any general info about the architecture..  Of these things

Bruh.  There are refurbishers who would even buy a broken board.  But this isent even worth it.

looks like you should just replace the chip and see if it works at this point. otherwise keeping looking for ICs that appear to have been knocked off or not working, or maybe CAREFULLY try and see what voltages are looking like to relevant chips when it's powered on.

Ill try replacing the chip.  As looking for the voltages is probably dangerous for the board.  Just saying i will use it as a last resort.  I may short stuff out.

I also have another question does this need a special psu? Or adapter for the 8pin on the board?
