Analysis Paralysis - Gaming/Recording PC - $1,600

Let me start by saying thank you to any and all who provide advice, I appreciate your time.

Budget (including currency): USD 1,600

Country: USA

Games:

Smite, FPS style games and other various free and paid games in the future.

Programs or workloads:

The goal is to play games on high settings and record for YouTube. Potential streaming in the future. Not sure what software I will use.

Other details:
I want to see about building the PC from parts although I have no experience doing that. I’ll probably get some hate for this, but I was entertaining the idea of going pre-build options whilst doing research. For fun while researching I was able to build an Alienware Aurora R10 with the following for $1,599.

Quote

Processor: AMD Ryzen™ 7 3700X (8-Core, 32MB L3 Cache, Max Boost Clock of 4.4GHz)

Video Card: NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 2070 SUPER™ 8GB GDDR6 (OC Ready)

Memory: 16GB Dual Channel HyperX™ FURY DDR4 XMP at 3200MHz; up to 64GB

Hard Drive:1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD (Boot) + 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s (Storage)

Chassis Options: High-Performance CPU Liquid Cooling and 850W Power Supply

Wireless:Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1650 (2x2) and Bluetooth 5.0

From researching I believe the most important components needed for recording are the CPU, RAM and Storage.

The main components I was looking at buying minimum (and someone correct me if I am ignorant) are AMD R7 3700X, GeForce RTX 2070 Super, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD / 1 TB HDD.

The budget indicated would be for the desktop only. I also plan on getting two monitors, a keyboard and mouse (any recommendations please). Hopefully for a steal during memorial weekend. I don’t want to spend more than $100 per monitor and keyboard mouse combo.

I don’t really have knowledge on what refresh rate to play on or record on, etc.

As you can see I’m a little all over the place. Any and all help is very appreciated.

Much love,

zChase

Thank you for that pc part list! I had to replace certain items that were out of stock. I’m also confused on if the air cooler or an AIO water cooler is the right way to go. Keep reading back and forth things.  Unfortunately I can’t find a RTX 2070 in stock anywhere at a decent price. Also having trouble finding a PSU in stock. Thoughts on the modified list?

Trying to place an order for all parts and start this great journey.

🤔 Only one problem I have with this list, the motherboard. Its VRM performance is suspect at best. I wouldn't touch it with a ten fool pole unless the most demanding application I'm trying to run is something like Microsoft Office. I'd switch it to something like an Asus Tuf Gaming X-570 Plus instead just to be safe.

@BlackManINC Thanks for the comment!

How do you feel about the Asus Prime X570 ATX AM4?

I have a modified list (still trying to figure out how to insert) where I selected Asus Prime X570 ATX AM4. From my brief reading the Prime versus the Tuf board is mainly about features, such as more USB options. The Asus Prime seems to be more cost effective and I'm trying to save some money where I can as I am finding out there are no cheap 144hz monitors.

Yeah, that's a better motherboard from what I've seen people say about it. I haven't seen any red flags about its VRM's, and that's what matters most if you're running high performance applications like video games. 👍👍

It’s great, as BlackManINC said. Only thing is that SSD isn’t NVME, there are other nvme options at that price, but not sure if they would be in stock.

@Shrekpad Thanks for letting me know the SSD wasn't NVME! I found a Western Digital Blue SN550 1TB m.2 - 2280 NVME SSD on Amazon for the same price and in stock. Takes some work to remember all the "should have" specifications with moving parts around on the list.

Now the only thing left is to find a decent 80+ PSU and RTX 2070 GPU in stock, but this whole Covid situation is hurting supply it seems.
