How, and why, have you got double the upload speed of your download speed....your upload matches my download....

My ISP has always been this way for most of the time. Not sure if it's just my ISP being weird. Nonetheless I'm glad that they're now replacing DSL with fiber.

The chip works by splitting the light running through already laid Internet fibers into 80 unique channels, a feat that previously required a cumbersome device featuring 80 lasers. Instead of 80 individual lasers, the micro-comb integrates the equivalent of hundreds of high-quality infrared lasers into a single chip.

Does it means that the technology to achieve such speed already exists, but it might be more accessible with that chip? Sorry but I only skimmed page 1 and 4 and nearly everything there was speedtests.

The fibre optics we use are capable (which means they don't need to lay more cable or different cable),  what this tech is is the light source that sends the information at the end of the cable.

It should actually prove to be a very simple upgrade process once the tech is ready for deployment.   But as was pointed out earlier, this is mainly going to benefit the back haul.  And maybe everything up to local exchanges (maybe even nodes),  as far as consumers are concerned the general laws of market supply and demand will mean we won't be seeing much of the speed increases for a while to come.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.
