Does amd cares about B350/X370 support for ryzen 3/4000 anymore?

B350 , x370 are the first ones to support am4 and benifits the most from cpu upgrade, but looks like Amd is forgetting them to rip us off?

they are not ripping us off. the b350 boards wont be able to handle such powerful cpus anyway. And x370 is pretty old right now.

if you think AMD is ripping us off, what about intel then?

And the new ryzen is using different bios. with different bios i mean you cant use the bios with b350 or x370. Mayby even some b450 and x470 wont support the new bios.

Define what ripoff is occurring? You got 3 generations of CPU support over a 3 year period, I'd like to see Intel do that. (And no, X299 doesn't count)

The performance difference between first gen and third gen ryzen is pretty large, you really got your money's worth with any 300 series board if you bought it at launch.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

How is updating to new technology ripping you off? B350/X370 are old chipsets, they're moving forward, as they should. Just because your tech becomes outdated every few years doesn't mean it's a rip off.

In other news, how dare Apple release the iPhone 12 making my iPhone 8 outdated. A rip off.

B350/X370 already support Ryzen 3000 (Zen 2), they just will not support Ryzen 4000 (Zen 3) which seems fair IMO.

amd stated at beginning am4 socket will be supporting in 2020 , misleaded yhat it will support all cpu up to 2020 for most users. they can techically make each gen cpu only work on that specific chipset

False. they stated that it will be supported until 2020 not in 2020. and yes it is still am4 socket but the bios is better and some boards do not support the better bios since it is different architechture and much more difficult manufacturers to make a bios update to.

As someone who bought an x370 platform shortly after launch, I... don't mind. I didn't get a 2000 or 3000 chip, and I don't plan on a 4000 chip either. Maybe 5000 or 6000.

If you really care about cost efficiency, get the best you can reasonably get at the time and stick with it until you have a good reason to upgrade. If, at that point, you can save money on a component, great. If not, well... There are only a few components you should expect to have forward and backward compatibility for more than a few years, and the motherboard is not one of them. I think AMD did good on their promise by supporting x370 up to 2020.

I get what you're saying, but it's more like if you had a charging cradle that cost half as much as the phone that you need in order for the phone to operate, and they broke support for that.

That's not really the case. It would be like buying a charging cradle for half the price of the phone, then 3 years, and several phone editions later, they released a completely different phone with a new cradle, that was updated with all the features that phone needs to work.

They can't offer compatibility/support with old technology forever. It hits a point where it's a waste of resources and energy,  especially with how fast the computer industry is moving forward.  The fact of the matter is, if you buy something, within a year of two it's going to be outdated. I just spent $1000 on black friday on a 2080 Super, and by this black friday it's likely going to be significantly outmatched by it's 3000 equivalent.

They kind of are and kind of aren't. The issue is that for the past several years, AMD has been saying they wouldn't do this and criticizing Intel for its practices. Intel has at least been straightforward. AMD turned out to be spreading bullshit.

No they don't care, and you shouldn't either. They do support 3000 series CPUs but in order to run it you need a special beta bios. Its not possible for the motherboard to support every ryzen CPU at the same time, so you end up with a jumbled mess of compatibility if you try to make a load of different bios revisions. Not to mention the issues with memory compatibility, buggy bios, and whatever else can crop up. Slotting a 3000 series CPU into a first gen board is already a wicked good deal, and I think its not really reasonable to expect AMD or the board makers to spin up new bios releases for old board to run hardware combinations that just aren't very reasonable to begin with.
