Restoration of previous content upon resizing browser window.

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

Browser, version and OS: Firefox 76.0.1, Chrome  83.0.4103.61 Windows 10 1909

Steps to reproduce/what were you doing before it happened?

Nothing out of the ordinary.

What happened?

After posting content (in this case a status), if you re-size the browser window, you get an automatic restore of the previous post without doing anything to prompt it.

What did you expect to happen?

Just a resizing of the page.

Screenshots of the issue, if applicable:

Any other relevant details:

Noticed it for a while, but never thought much of it since it didn't happen every single time. This time I was able to reproduce it at will both with a new post or a comment on a status.

If it's a cloudflare error, what was the ray ID from the bottom of the error page?

I can say that this isn't related to browser window size or resize. It happens time to time with normal browsing. I imagine there's some short connection error to server where it doesn't recognize that posting content has already been registered.

Hmm, I can't reproduce that. The autosave should be cleared from your browser as soon as the status is submitted.

Happens when I move or resize the browser window.

Can you open the dev tools and switch to the Storage tab, then Local Storage > ltt in the left pane? There might be loads of stuff there, but while you're active in an editor there should be one flashing yellow every couple of seconds - this is the autosave for that editor (in topics it will have the key "editorSave.reply-forums/forums-{topicid}"). When you submit the comment, what happens to that entry?

Also, after submitting is anything logged to the console tab (ignoring stuff about sameSite cookies)?

editorSave.reply-core/members-264701:"["<p>\n\t<a class=\"ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image\" href=\"https://linustechtips.com/main/uploads/monthly_2020_05/0G1A0081-Edit.jpg.1d0045427525471a8dad2ea134e62249.jpg\"><img class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed\" data-fileid=\"579022\" data-loaded=\"true\" data-ratio=\"66.60\" data-unique=\"nqw23ifx6\" src=\"https://linustechtips.com/main/uploads/monthly_2020_05/0G1A0081-Edit.thumb.jpg.bf00eee16cea9782a8a487f18b7052e6.jpg\" width=\"1000\"></a>\n</p>\n\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n</p>\n\n<p>\n\tTest.\n</p>\n",1590192714]"

Nothing in console.
