GTA V - What GPU settings should i increase?

Hello everyone, first of all, English is not my mother tongue so i hope you understand what i say. So, i downloaded GTA V from Epic Games (because they made it free till 21st May so why not download it, it's not the 1st time i'm playing GTA V ofc, but i had never had the paid version), and i wanted to play with my graphics settings a bit. I launched GTA V (paid free version) for the first time and the settings were default, you know, everything set to "Normal" and i wanted to increase the settings to at least "High" (not all of them, a few). The issue here is, because it's summer time, my CPU has thermal issues, reaching 99c, throttling etc. and i wanted to increase graphics settings (For GTA V ofc) ONLY for the GPU, not increase CPU settings as well. There are a few GPU settings but idk which of them are, so if any of you have the time to tell me which of the graphics settings are for the GPU only, that would be very appreciated. I know some of the settings will increase a little bit the CPU usage as well (because the game mostly uses CPU) but that won't be a big problem. I just want to know which settings are for the GPU. Thank you lads

 

Specs:

• Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2
• CPU - Intel Core I5-750 2.80ghz
• Graphics Card - Gigabyte GTX 1050 TI Windforce 4GB (Not OC'ed)
• RAM - Corsair 12GB DDR3 1333mhz
• SSD - Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500GB

Just set everything to low, turn vsync on and check your frame rates...if it is 60+fps, increase the settings to medium. Continue increasing settings until it can no longer maintain the frame rate you desire.

 

I believe the game also has a benchmark test and 'recommended settings'

Fix this first. Make sure case air flow is good, then clean the CPU cooler and put new thermal paste.

In the normal settings i get about 65 FPS if i remember correctly. Where is the "recommended settings"? i've seen it before but not remember where it is exactly. Thanks for your reply though

True that, but money is an issue with the coronavirus going around, so idk when i'll replace my stock cooler. I've cleaned my PC from dust 2 days ago, and the paste i haven't really changed, the last time i changed it was 3 years ago, i should change it

I guess not...You probably can increase graphics settings a little bit. change one of the settings from normal to high

I could also use Geforce experience and choose the optimal settings from there

Just try new paste, and see what happens. You can buy new good thermal paste for cheap.

Yea i know, here in Greece, one thermal paste that i bought 5 years ago is called "Arctic Silver 5 3.5gr" for 10 euros, i may buy it again

A small inexpensive fix can prevent an expensive one.

Facts facts, do know how many many degrees will it drop down by replacing the thermal paste? Looking at some articles, it says around 5c

If replacing old dried up paste, the difference could be way more.

As i said, the last time i replaced the thermal paste, it was around 3-4 years but yea, it would make a difference

Some things you have to try, also make sure your CPU fan is moving enough air. Once your get your temps under control, then your performance will be better.
