Upgrade CPU or GPU?

Hello,

I am looking to upgrade my pc.

I have a i5 6600k and a gtx 1070.

I want to upgrade both, cpu and gpu, but for now I can only upgrade one.

Which should I upgrade? My budget is $500-600

I am thinking about either a RTX 2070 or a i9 9900k or i9 9700k? What would you reccomend?

GPU, as the CPU is still good enough.

Also, go with AMD, not Intel, especially if you're on a tight budget.

Just as good, if not better when you consider multithread.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB / RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4-3200
MOBO: MSI B450m Gaming Plus / NVME: Corsair MP510 240GB / Case: TT Core v21 / PSU: Seasonic 750W / OS: Win 10 Pro

It really depends on what you want to use your computer for! If it is for gaming then probably the GPU, but if you are doing editing or rendering, then go for the cpu!

Ryzen 5 3600

MSI B550 Tomahawk

16GB 3600mHz Trident Z RGB

1650 Super

Fractal Design Meshify C

Samsung 970 Evo 1TB

Thanks for the info! I will have to take a look at AMD.

Definitely gaming, starting to lean more towards getting a GPU.

i've seen several threads where OP was complaining about performance because their quad core i5s were bottlenecking their GTX 1070/980ti, it's not really enough anymore.

Maybe it's better to wait for the B550 for the upgrade path?
