Would you guys reccommend github or gitlab, or does it depend on personal preference?

I honestly preffer Bitbucket/sourcetree
Esp if you need project management & stuff, I just find it better.

Mostly personal preference. GitHub is probably better known for open source projects. GitLab has the benefit that you can run it on your own hardware, if needed. Both have free tiers, so I'd simply try both to see which you like better.
