Explain Your Username

Recommended Posts

Damn, I really didn't settle on this username that long ago, huh.

Well, if ya know, ya know but if ya don't, my current name comes from a hat in Team Fortress 2. It's a plunger for Pyro (and is one of the very few red-colored hats that doesn't come in an equivalent blue-color by default) and is my favorite hat from the game.

Not my own idea, actually, but it generally tends to be available, and in a way I love it. I see it as a kind of self-humour that shows your acceptance of the fact that you aren't an expert. In matters we discuss here I'm hardly new, just never having progressed beyond a certain level. Ever an amateur, not even a semi-pro.

pretty sure I've posted this in another thread somewhere, but it was such a long time ago.

It's an amusing mispronunciation of my real name because of a particular friend's accent that became my nickname way back in school and everyone else just kind of ran with it.

Judge the product by it's own merits, not by the Company that created it.

"Hakemon" was the name given to me by my fathers co-worker back in 1999, whom ended up being like an uncle to me.  It was because I loved hacking electronics (not like cracking software, but actually hacking up electronics to do other things), and Pokemon.  So he called me Hakemon, the Hacking Monster.  It stuck for a long time despite having long lost contact with him, so it's personal for me.  Should he ever find his way back online (he was absolutely the coolest guy I knew, house filled with electronics, my dream house basically), I'm keeping this name so I can be found.

It's... my name? Sort of.

First name starts with S. Last name 'Chew.

Happy coincidence that if you mash 'em together, out pops a fancy English word I happen to like.

This is the only place I've used "Eschew," though. Other places, I tend to use "Geminox" as my username.

Combines my two biggest interests: tech and weather.

The 970 is from my gamertag typhoon970.  Fun fact: typhoon970 was originally supposed to be typhoon870, referring to Typhoon Tip's record low pressure reading of 870 mb in 1979.  However, I made a typo, and this was back when you couldn't change your Minecraft username.  (Ah, 1.7!  The good ol' days!)  I found that typhoon970 rolled off the tongue better than typhoon870, so I stuck with it.  (970 mb is a rather typical pressure for a typhoon so it still works.)

My 15 year old self wanted to have a cool/unique gamer tag when we got our Xbox 360. I thought it would have been funny when people read my gamer tag, Disgamesuxba11s (This game sucks balls), over comms, making them coming off as being butt hurt about the game. It was different, and 99.99% of time, this username is available; for forums, I simply change it to "site" instead of "game." I don't mean any ill will about it and particularly DON'T think the sites that I create accounts for sucks balls. If they do suck, they are not worth the effort of me making an account.

If you see this handle on games and other forums, more than likely it is me so feel free to say "Hi!"

I originally answered in linked thread below. Cool to see how users' names changed over the years.

Too add, I've also made the names:

Lilavyre - was trying to make a female sounding name that had the same ring as Vizzaral. Lila - Lilly. Vyre - combination of 4 letters that make 2 syllables and sounded good.

Eusoreass - made because I was trying to get away from Vizzaral, and I kept this as an alt cause, to this day, I think its funny. Eu - Eucliwood Hellscythe (Kore wa Zombie desu ka character). Soreass - I swear there was a smart reason, but I can't remember and I'm starting to think I just typed sore ass. The name rolls of the tongue like eusoreass rn? (You serious). And soreass black.

Long ago, like way long ago, I needed to come up with a username. I came up with pirate for whatever reason. Surprisingly, it's kinda common. So I says fook it, and added monkey to the end. Even more surprisingly, people have taken that name someplaces, so I sometimes add 420 or some numbers to the end. There really is no cool story.
