Everyone needs to wear a mask when going outside, period. No wonder the US is getting more by the second with the misinformation, healthy people don’t need to wear them.

Some hospital are modifying them where 1 can be used for 4 patient. The most I saw was 1 rigged up to treat 9 patients at the same time.

Even more unclear, so I can have sex with someone who has the disease as long as their partner doesn't and I'm in my own home?

You are your safest sex partner.Masturbation will not spread COVID-19, especially if you wash your hands (and any sex toys) with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before and after sex.

🤣

I can perfectly imagine them first:

to get "in the mood"

And then again "after", just to be "safe"

Under statewide orders to stay home or limit travel to prevent the spread of coronavirus, how did San Diegans respond on a sunny Saturday? They headed to the beach, parks, the snow, and a variety of hiking spots. And they weren’t all keeping the new social distancing of keeping 6 feet apart.

Can you not ban people from posting in a thread? It seems heavy handed to lock the entire topic when 99% of us just want to hang out and chew the fat? (I understand why you have to do it though).

If everyone behaves, then I don't need to. But as you may have noticed, there are people who can't stay away from pointless arguments, filling the whole thread with them. Which is the main reason the other thread got locked.

Chilling if true.  This website has calculated the consequences of different approaches to this pandemic given doing nothing, social distancing, California style shelter in place and Wuhan style lockdown.   For most states nothing less than 3 months of shelter in place prevents needing more hospital beds than currently exist.

https://covidactnow.org/

https://covidactnow.org/about

Quote

CovidActNow.org was created by a team of data scientists, engineers, and designers in partnership with epidemiologists, public health officials, and political leaders to help understand how the COVID-19 pandemic will affect their region.

This tool is built to enable political leaders to quickly make decisions in their Coronavirus response informed by best available data and modeling.

We built this tool to answer critically important questions such as:

  • What will the impact be in my region be and when can I expect it?
  • How long until my hospital system is under severe pressure?
  • What is my menu of interventions, and how will they address the spread of Coronavirus?

The numbers are interesting and Chilling if true I hope they are wrong.  Comparing to Chinese numbers is kind of hard because the CCP lies.  So this modeling is likely based off numbers from outside of China for the most part, and agree with the observations inside of China. (IF we can believe them) https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/us-spy-agencies-warned-trump-that-china-was-lying-about-coronavirusimage.png.4fb159f36d6daedaeb04d850da595913.png

* further cleaning was done *

From now on, any merged thread about the Covid-19 will get the same stern and heavy handed moderation treatment.

The useless bickering is extremely unhelpful and is, again, against the spirit of the Community Standards.

We don't want to warn or ban people from this discussion, but we will if it's deemed necessary, so it's pretty simple ; behave yourselves, follow the CS and the additional rules stated in the OP and it'll be fine.

Also, we got a paper load last night. Each time I held a toilet paper package to put on the shelf, it felt like I was carrying a chunk of gold. Literally worth its weight in gold during this time bruh. Same goes for the water we got.

On the lighter side of things.  Seen this video in which Ukranian police in full blacked out gear and mask like they are busting a load of sweet sweet cocaine or heroin ... but it's face mask. LMBO.  So Nico Bellic is smuggling face mask these days.  LMAO.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/videos/cops-bust-130000-smuggled-ukrainian-face-masks/vp-BB11gb5G

N95 mask are the new Platinum for 3-6 months.  After this those things .... people are going to stock up on facemask if not full out gas mask from now on.

Talking about masks, anyone has detailed information on N95, N100 and HEPA filtered respirators?

What's the difference, what's best to use and what can be used as a temporary replacement in case of unavailability?

The number refers to the filtration level so N95 masks filter out 95% and also do not filter out water vapour or anything oily, N100 filter out 100%. IIRC HEPA is for pollen but I am probably wrong on that.

Correction for the sake of peoples health...

The number is the effiiciency of the filter. Theres actually 3 types of mask, N, R & P.

N means not resistant to oil or water vapour. These filter out dust.

R means the same as N but also resistant to oil. These filter dust & paint.

P means resistant to everything. These are mostly used by sprayers using metallic paint or anything etching that contains solid particles mixed in with the paint.

R & P rated masks are only rated for 8 hours of use before they must be replaced.

I personally know all that, but don't have the time rn, and I'm on my phone. I was just trying to stir the discussion towards something helpful for people that might need alternatives in case of local unavailability, or exorbitant prices! ;)
