It can be a few things. But most likely ether a wire is hitting the fan blades or the fan bearing is going out.

The relays in older PSUs can make sounds like that too, but if that was the case the PSU would not be working right at all.

If under warranty RMA it. or Just replace the fan or PSU

I don't know your details.

You're assuming you can get a credit for the bad one?  Bought within 30 days?

RMA it through EVGA, but ask for an advance replacement?

Have it replaced and keep it around for a spare?

I imagine the fan will eventually fail altogether and the PSU will overheat.

eventually the bearing will wear out completely becoming more and more noisy until the fan stops moving altogether, meaning the psu can no longer effectively regulate it's own temperature

RMA first, that's the option of least cost

cant i order a new psu before rma so i can atleast use this pc for school and gaming?

that runs the risk of not being able to return the one you've bought in the meantime. gaming can wait a while, is there anything else like a laptop you can use for classwork in the meantime?

actually i should just rma first. I just hate to see my new pc sitting in the corner while i use my old crappy pc

Again:  Details?

Where are you located?  When did you buy the EVGA?  Where did you buy it from?

As I said, most (if not all) companies will do an advance replacement.  They'll take your CC #, ship you a new PSU then you return the defective one.

Wow.  Just missed the 30 day cut off for a refund.  :(

Contact EVGA.  Tell them you'd like an advanced replacement for your failed PSU.

Quick question. It doesnt make sense to contact EVGA when i purchased the item from Canada computers. So why contact the manufacturer?

You've never had to RMA something before, I guess.

You contact EVGA because that's who the warranty is with:

https://www.evga.com/warranty/rmaprocess/

In EU, there's a law that the seller of the product has to support exchanges for up to two years... but you're not in EU.  😉

Canada Computers doesn't imply any warranty since they didn't make the product.  They merely sold it to you.  They only offer a 15 day return, which you are well past.

Canada Computers offers a 30 day exchange.  Which you are also past.

They'll ship it to EVGA for you for up to a year from purchase date, but what does that get you?  Not an advance replacement.  You'll have to wait for EVGA to send the replacement back to Canada Computers.

This is a normal process.  This is how it works.  Warranties come from the manufacturer.  Period.

fyi this is definitely bearing noise - fan blades striking something would be happening at a higher rate unless there's a very unlikely circumstance of the blades and object setting up a resonance where it skips a bunch of blades

You can't be sure. I had many PSUs cross my desk making that exact sound only for it to just be wires bouncing off the fan at low rpm.

That being said. It's more likely fan bearings.
