So what CPU was in it in the end, don't think it was mentioned. 3950X for the kids Minecraft machine?

The MSI video card in that video is a great little card but at least the first few batches had memory overheating issues, just like the EVOKE ones. Same thermal pad placement and size issues, and the MOSFET pad not even contacting anything (on my card it actually fell off the card in shipping, with the cooler on). I'd open it up to check, and I'd definitely change the paste and check the pad placement.

I have one and I'm in the process of water cooling it after months of trying to fix the thermal throttling issues I had on MHW.

Mind you, if the kids just play minecraft with it it's gonna be perfectly fine. Again, great little card, not exactly the best cooler design.
However if you plan on buying that specific 5700XT model for it's compact size, like I did, keep in mind you might need to water cool it to get all the performance you paid for.

Nice vid.

However i do not recommend the MSi mice.

I have a GM70, had to have the 1st one sent back due to double click issue, and the 2nd one also started getting the issue within a few months of basic use.

In the end i had to disassemble the mouse (which requires removing the glued on pads), unsolder the switches, and replaced them with some old switches that worked from my old mouse (which i unfortunately damaged one during removal). In the end the mouse works, but not ideally. Ill need to replace the switches again in the future.

The mouse itself is nice, with both pinky and thumb rests, but the switches failing within a couple months is unacceptable, and despite the issue being brought up on MSi's offical tech support forum by other people (prior to when my issue started), when contacted they do not have the issue officially recognized and so are doing nothing to remedy it.

The bit I was mildly surprised by was the headphones, for kids especially younger ones I would of expected some volume limiting ones rather than regular ones.

Using an Ikea desk rather than a regular Pc desk and normal case is fine, this is a video for the internet after all.

The hardware does surprise me, this is Linus after all, (How much of it stays there is not a relevant topic anyway)

Anything new on the plans? I really want to build this myself with a few changes.

SORRY for the delay, I attached a template for 120mm fans, print it out on A4 (regular printer paper). Tape it where you plan do the cut outs for the fans on the desk and use this hole saw for the main cut out. Repeat as needed. A tip:  use masking tape on both sides to protect and prevent chipping. ALSO only go half way with the hole saw, then finish the hole from the other side.

For the mobo layout I used the measurements from this reddit post in r/pcmods. Tip pre-drill the standoff locations with a smaller drill bit than the said standoffs. Then screw them in finger tight.

Looking at starting a build similar in the next week or two. (Waiting on IKEA to get the desk back in stock) My brother-in-law is concerned about thermal build up with the wood absorbing and warping from the heat. How is this holding up after more extended use and are the GPU and CPU temps staying in a reasonable range?

Thanks for you time.

Thanks for you time.

Most Ikea desks aren't wood, the are compressed particle board for the most part. So no real worries from heat warping.
