It supports up to 200W TDP and the CPU pulls out 95W TDP so it's fine.

Intel calculates their TDP at base clock. A 9900K does far more than that at 4.7 all core (the stock all core boost), and yet more when OCed (it can pull around or over 250W when redlined AFAIK).

You'd want the Dark Rock Pro 4 for the 9900K. DRP4, NH-D15/15S, 280-360mm AIOs, they're all around the same performance "zone" and are what you'd want for a 9900K. Assuming you're going to OC, if you're running it stock or downclock, you can use a lower cooler, but that's normally done by guys running them in SFF rigs where they don't have the clearance for an appropriate cooler.

it can pull over 200w if you let it. I'd get the biggest cooler you can afford for that 14nm beast.

Oh right, I should have remembered that after watching GamerNexus explained the whole TDP thing. 🤪

Lol, my Arctic Freezer 240 says it supports up to 300W TDP, but it struggles to keep my FX 8350 cooled. 🤣

If running at stock and not intending to run the processor at max usage for extended periods that is fine.

I have a 9900k that I rendered video on, at stock with a 280 aio was barely enough to keep it in check.

Over clocked to 5.0 all core in a custom loop with a 280 and a 360 I still get Temps in the 80s.

That depends on your definition of 'enough'.

Yes, it is. It might get bit hot during stress testing and benchmarking, buts thats mainly Intels and motherboards fault for having Multi-Core Enchantment function and chipset to draw more power than needed. Just disable MCE if you are having bad temps.

Usually it is preferable to install the cooler before the motherboard goes into the case, this cooler included.

Conveniently, the CPU cooler is often the best way to pick up the motherboard after everything is assembled, and the DRp4 makes a nice big handle.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad
