Building Race simulator, need tips on connecting 2x 2080 super to 3x 4k monitors

sgtballs

Hello all!  My buddy is building what will hopefully be an awesome racing simulator.  Neither of us have any experience with dual GPU setups and tipple monitors so we are looking for some tips and advice how to connect and optimize everything.

The system is an Alienware Aurora that we slapped a second GPU inside, connected with NVlink and upgraded the RAM:  Intel i9 9700k, Corsair Vengeance 64GB DDR4 2666MHZ, 2 x NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 2080 SUPER 8GB GDDR6, 850W PSU

The Monitors: 3x ASUS ROG Strix XG438Q 43" 3840 x 2160 4K Resolution 4ms 120Hz 3xHDMI DisplayPort FreeSync Flicker Free HDR 600 Remote Control Built-in Speakers Backlit LED Gaming Monitor

What is the best way to connect these to the monitors?  HDMI or Display port?  Do the GPU now act as one?  What slots should be used; top GPU, bottom GPU or both?  Anything we should know that we haven't thought about?

Monitors arrived today ( god bless UPS).  The build begins now.  (We will check thermals once its up and running)

you simply connect them via whatever ports are available one the primary card , hdmi or DP doesn't really matter.

Does the game you're using support multiple gpu's?

running 3x4k will be too hard even for a 2080 super. you'll be looking at 20-30 fps.

and multiple gpu not be supported in most games today, the support is abandoned in favor of single powerful gpu.

IRacing sofware and yes, supports multi GPU.  Might also try Asetto Corsa

The IRacing simulator does support multi GPU.  So in that case will the 2 cards be able to handle it and a respectable frame rate?  Would a single 2080TI be better? ...or a single Titan?  😕

If the game don't support multi gpu, then you can't use 2 gpu.

So it must have single card. check this out:

On a single screen 2080ti can produce 70-90fps, so with 3 screen i guess it can get 30-40fps depending on the quality, playable but not perfect.

A titan have more VRAM, so it would definitely help running super high resolution.
