I'm a bit sad it wasn't recorded in slo-mo :(

They should use the other one and do it again tbh.

Great fun little video.

By the way the glass cracked after, it does seem to be some sort of tempered glass. However, the holes made in it probably made it a LOT weaker. They needed external clips/frame to hold it in place, but that would obvs increase the cost and possibly development time and understanding.

I am amazed this thing managed to be delivered to you without it being blown into pieces during shipping. Still, bad product though, they should have laminated the side facing the TV so it doesn't blow and scratch the screen.

NO! It's art, it's colonialism and you'll never get it!

LinusTechTips has a Mohs' hardness test kit and this was the perfect situation in which to use it.

I have cats and really wanted to know this screen protector's hardness to protect my TV against cat claws. My cats do not throw controllers at my TV, but they enjoy watching squirrel videos.

Throwing the controller at the tempered glass was spectacular, but now the opportunity has been missed to test its scratch resistance...

@nicklmg, is there a link to the product page so I can see the price and shipping options?

I would love to see how a regular cheet of acrylic, or even some polycarbonate like Lexan would compare.

I mean, the mounting hardware didn't shatter, and you guys could easily drill some holes in plastic... You have the power!

Not sure if these below are the exact models, but the product descriptions and installation processes seem to line up (¥ refers to CN¥, $ refers to USD):

Specs n' Stuff:

Unfortunately, the sites above are in Chinese and I'm not good enough at it to translate everything. Here's what I managed to pick up -- note that my translation skills aren't the best:

And a steel-like smartphone film material/texture.**

*I'm assuming the "film/membrane" refers to the screen protector.

**Yeah... I literally have no idea. I don't understand what this is at all.

sure. put TWO HOLES and TWO PINCH POINTS at the edge of any kind of glass ._.

i'd bet you'd be able to break it with some leverage of the mounting hardware, let alone pitching a controller at it

EDIT: i saw the tweet a few weeks back and i'm glad no one's hurt ,_, maybe it's the reflection of that red chest of drawers
