Second Build, SFF much?

732

Hello forum,

This is my second build and I want it to be in the Louqe Ghost S1.

I'm going to use an X570 board because I want to upgrade the CPU later.

:+: PARTS :+:

Motherboard: X570-I Aorus PRO WiFi

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600

Cooler: Noctua L12S (will bend to fit in Ghost)

GPU: XFX Thicc II Pro 5600 XT

PSU: Corsair  SF600 80+ Gold

RAM: 16gb Crucial Ballistix 3200mhz C16

Case: Louqe Ghost S1 (Ash)

SSD: Sabrent Rocket 256gb M.2
SSHD: Seagate Firecuda 2tb SSHD 2.5inch

Bugdet is around 1300-1400 USD.

Would like your feedback :)

"hi 911? my grandma is on the floor and shes not responding to anything"
"have you tried turning it off and on again?"

SSHDs are a waste IMHO, get a better SSD for your boot drive, and get a standard hard drive. Could do a Crucial P1 500GB and a standard barracuda 2TB for the same money.

I think you were talking about 3.5 inch HDDs being cheaper.

The Louqe Ghost has no room for 3.5 inch storage, and 2.5 inch HDDs are about the same price.

256 gigs of SSD storage is enough for me, as the games I play don't take up that much space.

I take it you wanted to do the XS with no top hat then, not the S1 with the small top hat, or the M1 with a medium top hat? The XS fits one 2.5" drive, the S1 fits 3 2.5" drives and the M1 fits either 3 2.5" drives or 1 2.5" and 1 3.5" if you can deal with ~1" of extra height.

Yes, without any tophats, that's why I chose a 2.5 inch drive :)

Next up then, why are you going with such an expensive motherboard? The X570 has no advantage over a good B450 in mini-ITX. Even the Gigabyte X570 is $100 less right now and the Asus B450 which has 3950X capable VRM is $200 less.

Ok, fair enough. To that end, why not just do a QLC 2TB nVME drive?

Ok, I did a 5700, 2TB SSD, 3600mhz and a GOOD B450 board for $1400 on the nose. If you absolutely needed a touch lower, the 5600XT would get you to $1300.

That looks good, thanks!

I guess I'll go for the B450 motherboard, but the MECH OC cards are too high (46mm, Ghost only has 45mm of clearance).

Maybe I'll be able to squeeze it in there, but it'll press against the side panel.

Ah, I went with an auto sort by price, there's several within $20-30 of that price. And I don't know where the motherboard price went... It's was $134, looks like it may have gone out of stock, but it should be back shortly.

I stuck with my original storage configuration, found a reference-sized 5700XT for about $355, and got a used L12S for $42.

Also got the Aorus PRO WiFi instead of  the Asus motherboard for $10 cheaper :)

The Aorus Pro is still a good board, I probably wouldn't go over a 3800X on that board, but your 3600 will run perfectly!
