I wanted to respect your budget, if you can go for a Ryzen 3600 go ahead. I would suggest 3600MHz memory if you go with 3rd gen Ryzen, since it's the sweet spot.

Why have you created multiple posts, about the exact same subject, when on one of the posts you had three pages worth of answers/discussion?

Yes, the i5 6500 is a 4C/4T CPU and the Ryzen 2600 is a 6C/12T CPU and the IPC will be better.

If you don't mind saving your money, I would suggest to wait for the 4th gen Ryzen CPU later this year.

Well if he waits until almost 2021 then what ?  The next year we will see 5xxx AMD chips.  Whatever you buy is old as soon as you get it as new stuff is coming out.  I wouldn't wait cuz your always gonna get burned.  Wait and struggle until 2021 get 4xxxx and now their talking about 5xxx ... So you always come out a loser like everyone else.  My advice is pull the trigger.  BTW your motherboard with a BIOS update will be able to support 4xxx.  Not worth playing the waiting game ya know.

4th gen Ryzen will come out in 2020, so he could either get the 4600 or buy a cheaper 3600. The gains from Zen+ to Zen 2 are really good.

But if he wants to upgrade now, the 2600 is a great option has well.

You are correct sir.  End of 2020 almost 2021.  I hope for your sake AMD is rockin with this bs Cortana virus, so I think that will delay the 4xxx launch.  What do you think ?

Maybe we don't know yet. Anyway he said he rather upgrade now, so the 2600 is the better option for his budget.

The motherboard won't affect the performance of your PC. So it depends, of course the MSI is a better motherboard overall but it's more expensive.
