What ram is the best choice for my Threadripper build?

I'm working on my first Threadripper and I just got it and the motherboard this morning. The TR is a 2920x and the mobo is a ROG Zenith Extreme Alpha X399. I got these at a great deal brand new and I tested them using spare parts and ram from other systems I had. I still need to buy the official ram that will be used in this system. Eventually I will be maxing out the beast with 128gb but that'll be when I need it. I do know that traditional Ryzen processors love fast ram, but I don't know if Threadripper does, I'm guessing yes. I will be rendering a lot of 3D animations, it would be my mass storage, my VR console when I get the courage to buy a head set, and I'll be hosting some virtual machines as well. So yeah, it will be busy. I don't have a lot of experience overclocking so some advice there would be nice too.

 

So to my question, what is a good choice of ram for my system? Is one brand better than another? Is one much better for Threadripper? RGB is also desired. Would a set of Corsair Vengeance Pros be a good option? I have those on my other systems that I built and I really like them. Might as well match with the AIO, PSU, and the case(750D Airflow).

 

I'll probably start out with 32gb unless I find a good deal for 64gb. I will be looking on Amazon and Ebay for my findings, though Ebay is having a better time shipping things quicker right now. Any help is appreciated,  thank you.

RAM brand only affect the looks and LED sync software. For the same bin (frequency and timings), different brands offer similar things underneath the fancy heatsinks and LEDs.

 

You will want 4 sticks to use all available memory channels though, if you want 128GB in the future you should be looking at 64GB (4x16GB) today.

If that's the case, I'll probably get a set or two of those. I can find those all day with no trouble, anything higher and I'm stuck with either smaller size or LARGER prices. Thanks for the help!

Yeah i think it's better to prioritize higher capacity than speed if you're work can utilize them.
