power supply surge detected during the previous power on. Asus anti-surge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply unit

I recently upraded my gpu from a 1060 3gb to a 2070 super. I got a psu from a friend because my psu didn't have the right pins. After I installed the gpu, it ran fine at the begin. But when I started playing fortnite (please don't blame me, I still play this game because my friends do;)) it suddenly just powered off. I got the message "power supply surge detected during the previous power on. Asus anti-surge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply unit". I think this is because the psu i got from my friend is more than 2 years old but i just wanted  to check it here. 

 

My specs are: 

CPU: i7 4770 

GPU: gtx 2070 super 

RAM: 16gb ddr3 kingston 

MB: Asus h81m-plus 

PSU: ocz700sxs 700 watt (this is on the side of the psu) 

 

I think because the psu is old it doesnt deliver enough power. But I'm not sure. If you think this is the case. How much wattage do you think i need? Also when I ran the system with my old 1060 3gb, it worked perfectly fine, but as soon as i installed the 2070 super it crashed. I checked the pins that are connected to the MB and they were all good. So i ran it again and it crashed again when i started playing games. 

please help me with this I really dont know what else it could be.

your system consumes under 400w so  700w is plenty. is your psu even 80+?

 

i think that you need another psu. from the tierlist under get atleast B- grade psu

I'm planning on upgrading my cpu, motherboard and ram later this year. So i think I'm going to go a little bit higher than that psu.

get better psu. i prefer corsair cs 550w. its a decent unit. Corsair txm 550-650w is decent too.

 

your pc will run at decent 450w unit too

but the gpu description says i need 650 watts minimum. Do you really think its enough. Sorry i ask so much just want to make sure i'll be fine later

yes it will be fine. your system consumes under 400w under load. do not trust the recommendations.

More than 2 years old is an understatement. That power supply is 10 years old. The company OCZ no longer exists, they were bought out/dissolved around 5 or 6 years ago.

 

You got it for free so you can't really complain but you should buy a new PSU.

 

Do you still have your old power supply and graphics card? Maybe you can go back to using those until you get a new power supply suitable for the system.

looooooool really? I don't really care about not gaming for like 2 days untill i install the psu.
