Help Choosing Between X1 Carbons

Hi guys, I'm looking at getting an X1 Carbon laptop but having some trouble deciding what to do. My two options are as follows

  • eBay Open Box X1 Carbon with an i7-8650u - $1300
  • New Lenovo X1 Carbon with an i7-10510u - $1700

They both have equal specs otherwise, same RAM, SSD, etc. I'm wondering if the 10th generation is worth the $400 cost to upgrade? Someone pointed out in the /r/SuggestALaptop discord that the 8th gen has vPro whereas the 10th doesn't (but I honestly do not know the difference). I will be using this laptop with Linux, learning web development and Android development later on.

Get the cheaper one, assuming it has warranty. If it doesn't, look at the Lenovo Outlet for a deal on an X1 or T480s/490s

The new one will perform slightly better, but the difference is minimal...

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

I personaly think is not worth, the 8th gen is still strong

Get the one with the i7-8650U. The performance difference is minimal. vPro is for stuff like remote management. Really doesn't matter for most people. Save yourself the $400.
