Excel sheet did not save despite manual saving

My Excel sheet did not save despite me manually saving it regularly as I filled it. I closed Excel, opened it back up to check whether everything was OK and none of my changes saved.

There's nothing on the automatic recovery and nothing in the "Unsaved sheets" button.

 

Any ideas?

Sounds like something was done wrong multiple times, or it saves to someplace other than where you are looking.  Changing the save location is possible on a lot of microsoft stuff.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.
