NAS Hard Drive For Playing/Storing Movies

jcronic420

A 6TB NAS HDD is $170. A 2TB HDD is $100. My question is there a reason I can't use a NAS HDD for playing movies on my pc. Online I keep seeing nas is more expensive (but its not) and more used for 24/7 use. So shouldn't a nas hdd be more reliable over time than a traditional hdd? I plan to turn my pc off every other day/sometimes everyday. I would like more space than my current two 2tb hybrid drives. Will also be using ssd for operating system. Thanx

Generally, NAS drives are more expensive than normal HDD because it is designed for 24 hours operation and usually have a little higher cache (256MB typical). It could be because of the recent virus pandemic that might drive the normal 2TB HDD price so high. A 2TB HDD (be it WD Blue or Seagate) cost about USD60 last few months.

I don't see any reason it can't play movies in your PC. The drive should work perfectly fine.
