It won't do damage.

But I am curious; why do you think it will?

Just showing a display is basically 'easy' for a videocard. So no issues there.

Sometimes people ask if multiple displays hurts your (gaming) fps, to which I say: no. It does not.

Of course if you use your secondary display to play a YouTube video.. Then maybe. But just 'doing nothing' on your screen will not hinder performance a bit.

I run a 1080p 144hz monitor that’s FreeSync on Nvidia through DisplayPort and a second 1080p 75hz through HDMI on my 1080 ti and it does fine. Only thing to worry about is it will knock off about 5% performance because it does take some GPU power to handle a second screen. But it won’t kill it anymore than one screen would.

The reasoning is ultra wide is good for certain games while the 165hz 1440p is better at fps games
