Cpu hot or normal?

Alright so today i gave my pc to one of my friends that is skilled in pc building since i dont know shit to install a 2080s and a 3600x.Now when i got it back the 3600x was running 55c idle? and after i did a time spy test on the cpu test it hit 78c.

Is this normal? Since i have heard that the 3600x is really hot. but didn't know that it's this hot lol.Btw i have like a pretty ok cooler. It's not stock but it's done me good so i dont think it's the cooler

And i noticed it's this hot when i heard the cpu fan ramping continuously up and down.

And if it helps i did not do anything before upgrading my cpu and gpu.I only uninstalled the gpu driver but did nothing for the cpu.Did something overlap or could i have a problem on my hands?

78*C isn't really that hot. 90*C is what I call hot. IF it's on the stock Stealth cooler, that's rather good.

Okay, after re-reading - I am willing to bet 100$ that he forgot thermal paste.

No paste, but temps only up to 78C? I would think they'd be even higher if it was paste free. Of course, @probablydumb didn't tell us what cooler is in use.

its about 55c but sometimes spikes to 60c but goes down instantly to 50-55c again.

Just by looking, the cooler seems like it should be doing better, but 78C is also not that bad. You could check and make sure the thermal paste is making good coverage, if you want.

Alright since the temps aren't as bad.Can you tell me a good fan curve that i can apply to the cpu fan so it can stop rammping up continously?

You'd have to experiment yourself to see what works.

@probablydumb This small ratio between idle and full load thermals somehow tells me that the cooler is insufficiently mounted, or what I would rather assume, that you set a fixed voltage and/or core clock or disabled the power saving states.

Since i don't really know how to reinstall the cooler should i bring the pc back to the guy? or is it easy to mount and dismount?

Alright found out that it did have thermal paste applied and the cooler was mounted correctly so is the cpu hot in of it itself?

Are your front fans between the front of the case and the glass?聽 If so move them to the inside to create a larger pocket of air between the glass and the fans.

Don't forget that 95c is the max operating temp so you're still in the safe zone but these聽chips will sustain higher boost clocks the colder they are.
