File transfer speed spiking

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

So I built a computer to act as a nas, and it works fine, but I wanted to copy a large folder(300+ GBs) and after like 18% the speed slowed down to 0 bytes/s but it spikes back up to normal for a few seconds, every like 30 seconds or so.Nothing is running in the background of the nas.Does anyone have an idea why this could happen?

Could you run CrystalDiskMark and share your results?

If you're running Windows Server, you'll need to disable SMB signing as it causes a lot off issues; see this.

When the son of the deposed king of Nigeria emails you directly, asking for help, you help! His father ran the freaking country! Ok?

I'm not using windows server, its just an old pc with folder sharing basically, I have a few hard drives and there is a shared folder on each drive, with windows 7 on it. From my pc or from the "nas"?
