CPU upgrade

So im about to upgrade CPU.

I mainly play Escape from Tarkov. I dont mind about price that much, but if i could get more power for less its fine.

My specs right now:

i7-6700k

1080ti

32 gb

First i was thinking about the i7-9700k, because of its performance.

But then i started to think about r5 3600, and its price. How good would that be compared to the i7?

if the fps decrease from i7 to r5 is like 10-15 fps, i'll take the r5 no doubt.

I just get bad fps.

CPU is really hot and runs at 80-90% usesage.

Have had for 4 years.

a 9700K doesn't make sense. a 3700x is as fast single and multi recks it.

I think 3700x is a good go...but don't really think you'll need a upgrade since 6700k still works well on the game.

So instead of 3600, maybe i should aim for 3700x?

If you can afford it, yes. The 3700X is better than the 9700K in virtually all respects

Aight. As i said, money is not really a problem. The only thing im looking for is price to perf. and longevity.

Is it being cooled properly so it can boost as much as possible and definitely not thortling? If yes then have you overclocked the CPU to try and get that little bit of extra performance out of it? Have you checked that no program is using the CPU in the background while you're gaming?

Well then it's dead simple!: Try to get by with your current CPU and then upgrade to a Zen 3 CPU once one comes out as mentioned by @MartinKweh

Main rig:

• Ryzen 3600X • X370 Killer SLI • 16GB Corsair LPX 3200Mhz • Strix 1070ti • Define R5 • SuperNova 750 G2 • Evo 1TB + X300 4TB •

Secondary rig:

• Acer prebuilt • Rzyen 1700X (upgraded) • OEM 1060 3GB • 256GB SSD + 1TB Seagate (upgraded) •

In that case get a 3700X. It's by far the best value CPU on the market after the 3600. It's also why it's outselling all Intel CPUs combined according to the largest German retailer

Running a H100i V2 right now. Changed thermal paste last week.

why? i know it's not "real" benchmarks, but I thought it gives a good indication and comparison between say, different cpus with the same gpu. but please correct me if I'm wrong.

You do better trying to find if someone has done a re look at the chips. I know games nexus did a look back video on 6th and 7th gen a month or so back.
the issues are they aren’t well test so one could be overclocked while the other is thermal throttled

Yeah, that site is basically random numbers that don't mean anything. Same as GPU Boss, Userbenchmark and other "one-metric" comparison sites. They're SEO spam and nothing else.

Is that the max you can do with the chip and the H100i?

Main rig:

• Ryzen 3600X • X370 Killer SLI • 16GB Corsair LPX 3200Mhz • Strix 1070ti • Define R5 • SuperNova 750 G2 • Evo 1TB + X300 4TB •

I could go higher. But at this state, with it running at 80%, i think something is wrong.

Could try to push it to 4.3-4.
