Low fps in all games

EJ251

So it all started when I was playing destiny 2 after a multiplayer match the game froze and the PC crashed which I later found out in windows event viewer that it was my gpu driver that stopped responding, it's happend a few times since. I uninstalled my gpu drivers and installed olders ones which seemed to fix the problem (I think). however playing destiny 2 again my fps has gone down to about 20-30 from 100+, grand theft Auto has also taken a hit getting about the same fps. I'm not sure what happend since that crash but I can't work it out, i reinstalled windows 10 with keeping my files and nothing changed. Staring to think my gpu might on its way out. Any help is appreciated cheers.

Hello!

i may not be a complete expert on FPS boosts, but I can give a few tips. But I need you to answer some questions.

1: What game are you trying to play?

2: Is your graphics driver up to date?

3: Is GeForce Experience installed?

4: What FPS are you running on those games?

5: What is your goal FPS?

After that, I can give you some tips. Thanks!

well, you just went from the newest driver to an older one right... did you properly uninstall and install everything? there could be some files that are left behind otherwise. i mean, are your temps good? is it clean? my best guess its software related if you just messed with the software. ive had problems similar to that, its almost always software related as long as your hardware levels are normal.

The reason I installed older ones was because the newer one kept crashing however today I completely uninstalled them (using DDU) and downloaded the lasted driver and haven't had a crash yet but still have pretty bad fps nothing has changed there. Temps are good, cpu is always under 50c gpu is about 65c never had a problem temperatures and thermal throttling

1: GTA V, Destiny 2, battlefield V, Assassin's creed unity are just some titles I tested all of which have lower fps.

destiny 2 went from 100+ to about 30-40, GTA V isn't even playable getting about 20 fps, battlefield V went from 80-90+ to about 40-50, ACU is lower can't remember exactly how much lower but is low for the hardware 50-60

2: Yes

3: it was now it's not didn't make a difference

5:refer to answer 1 but something acceptable for the hardware

Cheers

How ever some games haven't changed like Witcher 3 and csgo

If its only that game, maybe the game needs to be reinstalled? i dunno man, its hard to diagnose without actually being able to do it myself, im personally not a computer wizard, except my moms eyes lol, if you havent tried unisntalling steam or whatever the other game services are? I mean, if its just that game or 2, that'd be my next step

Yeah it's a weird issue some games seem affected but others don't which is why I think it's a bigger issue than just the game, I really don't know I'm just hoping it's not a hardware issue

yeah, i mean, if it started with software issues, im going to bet its software related. id say, maybe new hard drive? like if you have an extra that you can put all your personal stuff on, delete everrything else? games drivers, everything. like full reboot down to setting up a new computer. Like that always solves my problems when ive got weird shit going on, like similar problems but not quite.. but it sucks to do, write a list of everything critical that youd wanna reinstall, i suggest only taking the critical, cuz if you never use a program, just make your life easier and reinstall when you remember you need it, just a lil tip to help clean useless stuff. put all photos and work files or whatever document type stuff that's personal or work related, on a clean drive and just reformat the drive, the one without your photos obviously. If you think its windows related, just do a fresh install so you don't bring any weird files with. it aint fun but it does help clean everything. I know there are some drivers you need to even work the motherboard (haven't experienced it with any other parts). so just double check and make sure you have those on that good drive, just install it straight from the web into that drive. Im just trying to be real clear so you dont end up fucked lol

Yeah I've had to do that once or twice but never touched the other hard drives which have 2Tb of games on it I'm crossing my fingers that everything works like normal again on this new install of windows if not I'm probably going to the sell the damn thing haha

I tested unigine valley and got result of 82fps with everything on ultra (the benchmark results didn't save)

Which i don't think is very good, other people that have worse cpu/GPU are getting more.
