Server's RAM compatibility

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I have a server, that caries 4 of these sticks: click.

Motherboard is H8DGU-F

I want to extend my RAM to 128gb.

As I saw here my motherboard supports up to 512gb of ddr3 ecc reg OR up to 128gb of "Unbuffered ECC/non-ECC".

Since I already have 64gb of non-ecc RAM (as I suppose, correct me if I wrong), it would be difficult for me to sell it and buy 128gb of ddr3 ecc reg (it's cheaper and I want to extend it even more in the future).

Can I install both ecc reg and non ecc RAM into my server?

If yes, what limits will I get?

If no, can I buy RAM from any other manufacturer than HP without loosing performance?

I figured out I have ECC Reg RAM, so I think I will buy 4 sticks of Samsung 16GB 4Rx4 PC3L-10600R-09-11-AB1-D3 M393B2K70DMB-YH9

You cannot mix registered and unbuffered DIMM's. I can confirm the DIMM's in your server are registered.

Main: AMD Athlon 3000G, Nvidia GTX 780, 16 GB 2667 MT/s DDR4

Secondary: Intel Xeon X5670, Nvidia GTX 660, 24 GB 1333 MT/s DDR3

Server: Intel Xeon X5670, 60 GB 1333 MT/s DDR3-R

Laptop: Intel Core i5-3320M, 16 GB 1600 MT/s DDR3

That's good to know, thanks.
