AlexTheGreatish

With basically the first "AAA" game dropping for VR loads of people will want a cheap rig to play it, but are you okay with min specs?

I would wait with VR tbh as it's kind of new technology and by next year or a 2 it will be something much better in terms of frame rates, mobility etc for cheaper. And it's not so many games that you can play VR on. (it is but not meant to be played with vr)

Is there a reason AMD gpus can't be used with VR games?

Can Anybody Link A Virtual Machine while I go download some RAM?

AngryJoe and his team had problems with nausea using Valve Index in very short period of time and then they played it on some Oculus headset which was fine. Anyone experienced the same issue?

You guys should see if u can get a hold of the StarVR headset.

Its expensive, but supposedly far superior in quality than the more widely available VR sets.

It has 210 degrees FOV which is way up on the Oculus and Index. Runs 3660 x 1464 resolution (1,830 x 1,464 per eye)  at 90hz and uses AMOLED panels.

That's true except for one group. When people say they got a deal on a 1060 its always the 3GB.

You're comparing a game from 2004 to one from 2020 and saying it doesn't look that much better???

I can’t help but be curious what TV that is being used and what magical screensaver has it displaying paintings that appear to alter the bezel into changing wooden frames.

Thanks.. .

I'm disappointed Windows Mixed Reality systems, like Samsung's Odyssey + weren't tested.

I've heard reports it plays well on it (see vid below), but I would have liked LTT's take on it.

Could you share your source for HL: Alyx stuttering on medium settings with 6gb VRAM?

I was thinking of getting a 2060 6gb and now I might reconsider.

Is there a way to get the specs on the rest of his "gaming computer" that he was changing the configurations of?  Specifically, I'm curious about the case and the mobo, since he mentioned his cpu was an amd.  I would like a smaller build like what that looks like, so any direction or help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

  • 1 month later...

If you have the budget, this is my current rig:
Vive Pro with Wireless adapter

Index Controllers

Core i7-4790K
16GB RAM

GeForce GTX 2070 Super

I have been following VR on Steam since the Vive (OG) came out and, 100 titles in, it's the absolute best I've played.
Sairento is cool, Superhot feels great, Beat Saber is fun for weeks (and healthy), but Alyx shows you what an AAA VR title should look like.

Index controllers are an absolute must, if you want to really enjoy Alyx.

Wireless (or a cable rig) is also very important (hence the Vive Pro)

The resolution of the Pro is not a world of difference, you might as well get a Vive with wireless and ge the Index controllers.

I thought Alyx stuttered due to my GT1070, but my GTX2070 Super still stutters... (CPU at 90%, Waiting for those B550 mainboards to be released).
