What causes PSU external cable (PSU to power socket) to explode ?

No it didn't. Also I had used that cable with 360 watt psu earlier, when i upgraded my psu to 600  watt i used the same cable.

only difference between the 2 cables is old cable didn't have fuse plug.

Both of them are 10amp and 250volts

A ha!

So it was a counterfeit power cord.  Fuses have been mandatory for UK plugs since 1947.

If it didn't have a fuse, I doubt it was really a 10A capable cord.  Probably no certifications or anything (unless those were fake too).

FYI:

I found the problem

So the cable will be 6th one on this list http://www.chaus.com/product-detail-215.html so 0.75mm3 cable with 0.6mm insulation in a 0.8mm sheath.

I would rate that as a 6 amp cable so should still be fine. 6A x 250V = 1500W

Just wanna put a disclaimer in here since dealing with power. I can't say for certain that the above information is correct.

So I guess if you have a 10 Amp fused plug with 6 Amp cable then it's wrong IMO. The fuse should be the weakest point AFAIK.

I think i found the problem. It could be the surge-protector extension chord. The max current mentioned in surge protector is 6AMPs (Total max peak current being 6500AMPs). Also after 15 minutes of usage there is a buzzing sound coming from the psu power plug where its connected to the surge protector.

Should i get a higher rated surge protector or a UPS, Please recommend.

I'm talking about the old power cord.  Sorry.

Your surge strip is fine.  While it's rated at 6A and your cord is rated at 10A, you're not pulling anywhere near 6A.

yes, that was a shady cable tbh.

But what about the above picture showing the rating of the surge protector, is it safe to use with the 10A 250Volts cable/Psu. Since the surge protector max current is only 6A.

No i watched the video you shared, but it was to identify a fake cable/Plug right ?

But i needed to know if using the surge protector (having only 6A as max current) was safe...

Sorry i had missed it, but im not able to understand the sound coming out of the power strip while im gaming. its a bit loud. I actually thought the psu was drawing in more current than what the power strip was able to output.

You're not using 1500W.  :D

But if it happens after 15 minutes of use, I would think that a damaged part inside the protector is heating up and vibrating.

But it's not buzzing because you're using too much power.

What cable?

Does the surge protector have an LED that shows that it's "working"?
