I would prefer the MI 9 Lite over the Note 8 Pro.

- Amoled Display

- In-Display-Fingerprint

- less heavy

- metal Frame instead of Plastic.

On the other hand, the Camera COULD be slightly better on the Note 8 Pro (but for that, i would check out some comparisons).

If you take photos a lot, the RN8P

Else, the Mi 9 Lite which is smaller, has an oled screen with in-display fingerprint, and a Snapdragon chipset which allows for custom roms

Neither, save up a bit more and get a mid range phone.

Why? Those are not mid range phones?

And if not what range is mid phone for you?

Upcoming Pixel 4a, S10e now it's dropped in price, OnePlus 7, used iPhone XR. Around the £400-500 mark new, under £400 used. Better off getting a good phone from last gen than  budget one now. I know the screen on the Note 8 Pro for example is poor and it has issue with more demanding apps and the camera is reflective of the launch price.

The S10e is the budget S10... Literally marketed as a budget phone.

No point buying a £250 phone, you get what you pay for.

You are of no help if you cannot even respect his decision
