LTT Folding Team's Emergency Response to Covid-19

Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

This event has ended and I recommend you guys head over to the Folding Community Board for any general folding conversation.

BIG UPDATE! Stats page is finally up and Folding CEO twittered this:

Looks like my total estimate was only 20 % off from the correct number. If you use my spreadsheet it will say 321 total PLOPS, but in reality it's 474 PFLOPS at the moment which is almost 4x more powerful than Summit supercomputer!!

This is absolutely insane and a historic moment already. A virtual CHEERS on that one!

Although when I play Borderlands 2 with PhysX, it tanks even my Titan V if it get hectic at times.

(Off topic) Thats cause PhysX was terrible and poorly optimized.

I know that these are Rooki numbers, but thats what I can pump into this, and I know that this is a honest work.
Since the 15th of March I achived 781.000 points to fight Covid-19, but I know that I could achive more... but if I crank my system further it would be Unstable...
Currently the main rig is made of: Intel i7 8700k, but needed to be downclocked to 3,7 ghz, a Zotac 1080 Mini (runs fine with 65 Celsius/ It's really loud).
And on the Side arm is an Asus ROG G751JY on standard setting... and these two manage to get on the last 2 days atleast 500.000 point.
I am lucky with the Work Units that I get.
I hope that We all Folders will be able to beat the Virus! Let's Stand together against I thing, but keep the distance between ourselfs!

I hope that we will be noticed by the LMG Crew aswell in todays WAN Show!

Every little helps! That's a good system mate.

Even my dad's Ryzen 1600 with my hand me down 980Ti is working. It's for a very good cause, and the more numbers we crunch the more potential live saved.

My first few points to the LTT Team.

Sadly all my GPUs are still idle, no WU's available yet.

That gad dang 11758 project is still not uploading, and it's been 35 attempts so far.

It's cause you folded it for PCMR ;)

It bloody is the project I got when I was on their Team as well!

Tired of seeing it failing in the Log, as it prioritises trying to send that, over getting a new WU :(

Edit: Ended up deleting/dumping that work unit; as it keeps trying to send it, instead of getting new WUs at the moment, it was down from over 70k points to ~1600 as well.

Gotta get working with the Titan

Just spooled up another PC for this. 2600k @ stock clocks...

Brings me to a 8700k @ 5 Ghz/RTX 2080, 6700k @ 4.6GHz/GTX 1080, and the 2600k. Sum total assuming they got WU's constantly.... Should be damn near 3 million a day!

So glad to see the enormous amount of folks dedicated to this cause. In this time of need which is massive, it really is reassuring to see that the tech community as a whole has really gone full bore at this. The FAH consistent user base of 30k has jumped by over 400k in 2 weeks, that is truly nuts.

Just got a new one with eta 24 hours for my gpu (gtx 1070ti)

and 18 hours for my cpu (ryzen 5 1600)

that is really long no?

How long has it been running?  The ETA from what I've seen is generally completely off for the first few percent or so while it calculates the average.

I've only seen one say that long when out of curiosity I tried my Vega 8 Mobile, GPU units seem to have a 24 hour timeout so if it actually takes that long, its going to be completely wasted. :(

Define client viewer? The WebUI? Does advanced view show it as working?

I followed the installation instructions from the folding at home page before I joined your team and signed up.

Please be patient if you experience idle time as we face the COVID-19 pandemic together! We are working like mad to start simulations of COVID-19 proteins. The enthusiastic response to our effort has been tremendous and has sometimes emptied our queues. This is a great “problem” to have as there is no end to the valuable science we can do, its just a matter of giving us some time to get more running.

I just checked back there and maybe this is why it is not going past the loading stage. their software needs to give people a little more info so they don't think something broke

As far as I'm aware only Titans and Quadros are affected by it, as by default their P2 state limits clocks for stability when doing compute.

For instance with my Titan V, it's capped at 1355Mhz, but if I uncap it, it'll boost to gaming clocks, and also use more power.
