LTT Folding Team's Emergency Response to Covid-19

Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

This event has ended and I recommend you guys head over to the Folding Community Board for any general folding conversation.

Hmm is that 10 days like 10x24 =240 hrs of folding for this event?  I have been using my gaming machine more lately so it would only fold at night, but in a 12 hr period it still easily breaks 1mil ppd.

Just want to make sure I am within the terms. Since I would need about 20 days to get the hrs.

I guess I could just have a pi fold 24/7 for little to no ppd and just blast the 1mil plus over night on my main machine.

Quick Question, is it normal for the FahCore to hit 100% CPU but only 47% GPU?

Installed F@h now and have it running but it seems they ran out of WU as I am stuck at “Downloading”. Let's help whenever we can... damn my electricity bill will be a tad higher than I thought but this is worth it.

Depends on several things.  You should have one free cpu core per gpu. I generally have 2 cores that do not fold. One for background OS and one for gpu.

If you do have atleast one reserved for gpu, then it could just be the particular work unit. If you see it consistently then it could be your gpu is running at a lesser power state. A quick google will tell you how to resolve that. Lastly, it could just be a CPU bottleneck.

I kept getting bad results from my Vega 56 so I thought my oc/uv wasn't stable but I've taken it down to stock memory speed and under stock core speeds with ample voltage and I'm still getting bad results. Is this a problem with the WU's I'm getting, a previously unknown hardware fault, or an AMD driver problem? I am on the latest GPU driver from AMD. I'm running fahbench for a 5 minute test to see if that completes or fails out since fah was failing out pretty regularly before 5 minutes.

Yes! But dont overdue it! A 100% stable system is worth much more than one thats a bit faster but crashes from time time. A crashed system is a a loss of time and b cloud lead to a WU failing. A failed WU will have to be resend to someone else for a second try.

Thats why I suggest: If you want to OC your folding box do it CAREFULLY! This is even more important for GPU folding!

Absolutely! Looking just at the team 0 (everybody without a team given) the production did rise to a extend of 8x what is was before the COVID stuf. https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=0

Is that enough data? I just cleared the log then restarted it. I'm still underclocked with ample voltage, below the clocks it would run out of the box (and well below what it was 3d stable at) and at the same volts it was stable with higher clocks as well. @Metallus97 not sure if you see that quotes have been edited in notifications so there's an @

Damn. I'm on the US Naval Academy team. They've got something going, but it's nowhere near as active here. Can I still contribute to the LTT team even though I'm playing ball for a different team?

I looked into it already and as the error message is “WARNING:WU00:FS00:Failed to get assignment from '18.218.241.186:80': No WU's available for this configuration” I just guess they ran out of WU's. I am sure once they give out more work units it will start utilizing my CPU as well.

On another note. In the Browser controller it will not load the team area... the field that is to the right of the part where you choose which field you want to fold for.

Addendum: if I try to go to the team site via the teamnumberlink in the advanced controller it sends me to a bad gateway site.

Yeha depending on the browser and other stuff I dont know exactly the web client is broken sometimes. Just use the advanced one. Its better anyway.

About the Error: This was fixed for me by simply restarting F@H. Sometimes you get assigned to another server who might still have some WUs for you. It being FS00 I guess this is a CPU slot? How many treads do you have?

I have 12 threads as far as I know (Ryzen 5 3600) and have it limited to 6 threads manually in the advanced controllcenters config area I remember it crashing with client control (-1) when I last folded a few months ago before I had to do a clean installation of windows. And the browser I use is Mozilla Firefox.

You can switch teams afaik, I would confirm but currently they are getting mugged (literally, including tasks) of all their resources and can't even load their donor page.

Under the assumption you even get a work unit.

00:18:20:ERROR:WU01:FS01:Exception: Failed to connect to 140.163.4.231:80: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
