So I'm preparing to soup up the PowerEdge. I've been giving the system a good look-over, and I don't think my initial plan is going to work out so well...

The backplane power looks too feeble to run two GTX 970s. :(

You could always just set up new google accounts just to delete them when credit runs out. That's my plan anyway.

Until you realize google has banned your card from making more accounts...

Weird, I have two accounts running off the same card.

I had up to three accounts on same card when I was doing cloud F@H last event, but it was dangerous play as Google started banning them one by one even after they were previously accepted.

Also, I burned all my cards and family's cards last event, not sure if I can use them again for free credit (I would assume not...)

Can you not tap something to the power supply directly? Does it specify max amps on each 12V rail or is it a mystery because OEM?

Nope, if it has skipped it the WU results will be sent to F@H for analysis

That means no points btw

I don't know what happened but my client shit the bed. When I reopened it,  the WU's switched. The  one at 98% restarted, finished and sent:

17:38:38:WU01:FS00:0xa7:Completed 492916 out of 500000 steps (98%)

17:52:58:WU01:FS00:Final credit estimate, 2402.00 points

And the one that was at 5% at that point picked up where it left off:

17:52:47:WU00:FS00:0xa7:Completed 32612 out of 500000 steps (6%)

Voodoo maybe?

Can you not tap something to the power supply directly? Does it specify max amps on each 12V rail or is it a mystery because OEM?

The supply is definitely capable. It has two 870W supplies, and looks like the main 12v rail can flow a massive 71A. 😮

My GPU is working on a 98K one right now.

Common is 27-28000 base that finish at 200-220K.

Got one that finished at 330K or so a couple of days ago.

Open it up and solder some PCI-e cables to the board inside directly. One PSU per one card, solder on a couple 6+2 cables, should be good to go! Looks like it's all off a single rail inside so no worries about splitting load and 2 8 pin PCIe cables should run plenty of amps to the cards. Don't do the daisy chain ones, might get the wires warm if you use both 8x plugs for something later on.

be careful 2-3 of those should be ground while 2-3 are the 12v+

Can you pull from both PSU's at the same time? I thought one was a fail-safe

Edit: Pull more wattage than 1 PSU can handle.

Looking at the power distribution board, it appears that the positive output of both supplies is common on the MB power header. Yes, one is supposed to be redundant in case of failure, but it looks like I can theoretically combine their outputs.

Anyone know of any recent changes to the CPU WU's? Just as of today I notice that it was hitting my CPU so hard It was starting to thermal throttle at full power setting. Had to drop to medium power to keep the system stable. I am running PBO with Ryzen 7 2700x on a ASUS ROG Strix B450-F gaming with a -.1000 voltage offset. CPU is cooled by a Thermaltake Flow Riing 360mm AIO and have NEVER seen my CPU throttle like that before under any workload including handbrake HQ transcodes.
