Now that I think about it, I've not heard the fan on my PSU since I tested it on installation. It's oversized for my modest build.

I got a steal of a deal on a RMX 1000i for my 2700X/Vega56 which is complete overkill, the CPU/GPU combined at full load are just barely enough to trip the fan to run at around 450W, until that point the PSU is fully passive. Needless to say the fan only runs at boot as part of the PSU power on test.

LOL - I've replaced some of the 80mm ball-bearing fans in my UPSes with Noctua 80mm AF and it makes a world of difference but you just went in the opposite direction.

 

I tend to use the 140mm NF-A14 iPPC3000s in all my Fractal cases for the rear exhaust just because and when I put my new 5700XTs in the Define Meshify S I thought - "boy these AMD cards have loud fans" until I realized I upgraded the BIOS on the motherboard while I was rearranging things and had lost the fan profiles and the rear exhaust was running full-tilt.

 

That's the nature of 3k RPM fans. The iPPCs are by far the best I've owned (bless Newegg's bulk buy discount) but are on par with some Corsair models.

Just sharing:

 

I had a go at running the Folding@Home client on an AWS instance of type g4dn.xlarge - this has a single nVidia T4 GPU assigned against it (I know the T4 cards have two GPUs, but AWS's virtualization only assigned one) + 4 Xeon cores (Cascade Lake).

 

In any case, the Folding @ Home Controller is show it as 13,045 points a day (so that's the GPU + CPU)

 

By comparison, the GTX 950M (+i7 7500U) in my Asus laptop is pulling abou 1,300 points a day.

 

A g4dn.xlarge instance runs at $0.71/hour out of US-West-2 (Oregon). 

 

I had originally set it up to try out come cloud gaming using the Steam Remote Play, but the network latecy was too terrible to work well.  Will try Parsec next.  But when I was done my testing, I just though to leave the Folding client running over night to see how th T4 CPU does.  So there it is.

the gpu doesnt appear to be running change it to client-type advanced you want every penny you spend back no use waiting for something else

I can't speak for the others, but the 3K was basically a Delta lol. Shame Scythe is no longer around...

I had a delta fan in my Athlon XP system on the heatsink which was some custom aluminum thing, First time i ever bought a non-stock heatsink/fan for a CPU

I run Ubuntu on half my machines, have access to LibreOffice, but I'm to just lazy!

 

Plus having multiple people edit a doc is only really possible in googlesheets.
