LTT Folding Team's Emergency Response to Covid-19

Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

This event has ended and I recommend you guys head over to the Folding Community Board for any general folding conversation.

For you guys in chat with only one GPU in their case, what's your GPU and/or CPU temps at while folding?

my evga 1080SC stays at 140F

power limited to 85% and fan speed locked to 60% max for reduce wear and tear

my full cover water 1080 is 112F at 120% power and max stable OC which hangs around 2065mhz

GTX 970, around 70°C at 180W. I could get it cooler by ramping up my fans but don't need so whatever.

At night I just power limit to 130W and it gets silent enough to sleep in the same room :D (<65°C then).

Case is an Fractal Meshify C, with a few Noctuas.

Xeon's around 75, 7970 is 65-70.

3600 is ?? 5700XT is 70-75.  (System may have crashed while i was on the VNC connection).

1100T is 55,v56 at about 70.

R5 3600, 5700 XT, AX370 K7...  and that's plenty for me.  If you ignore the masses of other parts I occasionally put together and laugh about.

CPU (Ryzen 7 1700): 77 C

Videocard (RTX 2070 Super, EVGA XC Gaming): 76 C

Folding on both (folding on 14 threads on the CPU, full power not overclocked on the GPU), around 20 C ambient.

It could get them lower in temps, but I think the noise is fine as is.

Alright nice.  Glad to see so many people keeping their hardware happy.

So I'm "within average" on GPU for both.  Turns out to have been a really good idea to repaste the 1070 FE card.  Temps dropped by like 10-13C which made me happy.

The 1700 is using the "ooh shiny!" cooler AMD put out for their R7 3xxx CPUs and that thing barely gets above 50. GPU just under 70 with a 1:1 fan curve.

The 3700x is running a fairly warm 80-82C in this cramped case along with 70-72 on the triple-fan 1070.  Only a AIO would possibly get that CPU cooler.  Just no space. If I let the CPU run full stock it would get over 90...

Does anyone know what could be causing these dips in GPU Usage?  They happen about 2/minute.  At first, I thought it might be thermal throttling, so I changed the fan profile to a higher curve...but it's still happening..

Radeon 5700xt.  The only thing running on this machine is f@h... the 2 dips after that were probably me starting up snipping tool in windows and capturing the graph...

Actually, I do not think that those 2 dips are for checkpoint as other suggested. It's actually happening between frames on some AMD cards (I'd check TPF in your Advanced Client as I am 99% sure it will be around 2 minutes just like your dips ;).

Remind me to post a few shots of my "built on a 2x2 foot sheet of particleboard" builds.

There are pics of the "rack/shelves" they're mounted in posted somewhere on the bitcointalk forum but I don't remember if I ever posted any of the rigs themselves - probably in one of the PhillpMa1957 threads.

lol "philipma1957" - a well known person on bitcointalk, tbh was a bit surprised to see that name pop up here on LTT forum. :D

Looking for some advice here... I'm running an Nvidia Quadro RTX8000, and I feel like it should be doing better than it is. It can knock out an advanced work unit in about 1.5 hours in current configuration. Estimated points are around 200k per work unit, after being turned in. One of the problems i'm seeing is that I typically only receive around 95k per work unit, according to the extreme overclocking stats page.

Are there any settings I can tweak to increase performance to hopefully increase the actual points per work unit?

Thanks!

Not sure if others already told you this, but your QRB probably did not kick in yet. Also, I'd run Advanced flag on that card, just for fun and steady WUs :D

OOF, just checked the 3600, apparently it's at 77?!  I have a really tight fan curve since it's on the desk next to me during the day, but I didn't think it was getting that hot.

Hi Guys!

So. I need to buy a new GPU cos my RTX 2080 died. Thinking of 2070 Super.

Could someone who has 2070 super tell me how high is the PPD?

-Don

On stock clocks I'm getting between 1.55 mil and 1.8 mil (usually north of 1.6) on windows, depending on the WU. Using on average about 210 w.

I've got a Red Devil 5700XT and I'm getting around 72C/87C junction peak. I get around 1.2m PPD as well, I've seen people wondering about that since the sample size on the google doc is 1.
