Woohoo, broke the 3 mil mark!

At this rate if I can keep all the machines loaded I can break 10 by next Monday.

If anyone here's folding with a HD 5830+ or HD 6930+ a shoutout would be appreciated, but I'll for now note potential issues with 6950 at least....

One of my machines is running a 7970.  It's not worth much for it's power draw.

R5 3600, 5700 XT, AX370 K7...  and that's plenty for me.  If you ignore the masses of other parts I occasionally put together and laugh about.

Ah, yes, should've specified "in the 5000/6000 series"; shall edit. An HD 7970 is GCN so would indeed work.

I'm running into a weird issue. If I leave the CPU in the client it will not get WUs at all. I get the " No WUs available for this configuration" error for both CPU and GPU. If I remove or pause the CPU in the client the GPU more or less gets a steady stream of WUs. I've tried playing with the thread count manually with inconsistent success. Windows and drivers are up to date. Any ideas what is going on? Specs below:

OS: Win 10 Pro
CPU: Ryzen 5 1600
GPU: GTX 970
RAM: 16GB

Nevermind I got it working. Reinstalled the client then dialed the CPU back to 8 instead of -1. So far both seem to be fine. We'll see once the current WUs complete.

one of my 2080Ti's decides it wants to have a bad time and will throw 2 or 3 bad WU in a row then smarten up and be fine for the rest of the day.  No idea why.

Disable any flags if you put any and lower your CC and PL.

4 hours ago, Gorgon said:

I've seen this type of behaviour on NVidia when power-limiting cards really low with a high clock offset to compensate. When the WU returns from a check-point where the CPU is busy but the GPU idle and the clocks ramp up because the card is cooler it boosts higher natively and the offset sends it into unstable territory.

That is exactly what I experienced too @Gorgon, my 1080 Ti would work fine on 99% of WUs and then when it's checkpoint time (every 30min), for those brief few seconds, it would lower the temps a lot and GPU's boost would kick in and instant freeze which I will explain below:

However, it seems to be not wide spread, it depends from GPU to GPU in my case... For example, my 1080 Ti ran +160 (2100 CC effectively) on 0x21 but as soon as 0x22 hit Advanced flag, it started crashing and had to lower it to +125. However, when COVID units hit the F@H, everything was fine on +125 but I lowered it to +100 just in case, and the a few days ago it started freezing my PC (and it looked like my CPU was unstable as that is how it usually looked when I was OC-ing it, and I tried upping V-Core but it still kept crashing so I figured it was GPU...).

Afterwards, I lowered CC to +50 and then there were literally just freezes where everything keeps running (that is how I figured it wasn't CPU) but monitor froze and mouse didn't move while F@H was still working in background and every other app as well (youtube played sound fine).

So I had to damn lower CC down to +25 and that is now 100% stable w/o any freezes/dropped WUs. But fun fact is that even at +100 it wouldn't drop WUs, it would just freeze PC and keep folding on same WU after restart.

Meanwhile, my 1070 has stable OC with CC of +90 since September and it never even dropped froze a PC, let alone drop a WU....

Same behavior with 2080 Super, OC with CC of +85 (was +100 but lowered just in case), since February and works like a clock.

I'm not being competitive, I just was bored. 👀

You done yet?

Can you calm down now? Pause some slots, let other get WUs... 🤔

Tho, seriously, what do you do with all those GPUs when you are not full throttle at F@H?

Last few updates i have gotten no credits, even though i have handed in 3 different WU's to 2 different servers..

i guess they will come eventually....

but that does nothing for me in the competition. :S

Yesteday was a bad day for me too, Got 3 WU's that did not show up at all. that was about 350k points. Seems like the same ammount today.

Just spun the other system up, which is only folding on the xeon E5-2630v3 cpu. adding about 75k at 45-50W (cpu)

thinking of bringing the heat, by using my macbook pro in windows (to fold on gpu), to add annother 100k.... maybe later, if i can find a solution for keeping it cold enough, si i can sleep somewhere near it.

That is at least the upside to running a 1+1 or 1+2 with a bunch of individual machines, though it's nowhere near as energy efficient.

R5 3600, 5700 XT, AX370 K7...  and that's plenty for me.  If you ignore the masses of other parts I occasionally put together and laugh about.

I do wish we some more granular control over which slots are getting what WUs.  My 3600 keeps picking up these dinky little 600-200 base credit tasks that take under an hour, while the Xeon struggles with 2400 credit ones for hours on end.  If I could swap those two...

And for everybody amusement here is how a Intel Atom N455 compares in folding to a AMD E240... boths sucks, but the E240 sucks much more give the ETAs!! (wow, what was even to reason to design that piece of crap?!? Sometimes lags so bad what even lost the ethernet connection).. going to waste a couple of WUs but oh well (the one in the E240 for sure). The only positive point of the E240... doesn´t heat... ever lol

Downloaded one of those brutal 13876 on the 2nd GPU. It ran for a few minutes then puked.

Temperatures on the upper card were in the high 80s, low 90s. Hmm it appears Gigabyte has an over-optimistic fan profile. 87C and running at 40% fan - Really. Cranked the fan profile and away we go.

Going to run it on Windows to see what they can do there and tomorrow start trying to get them to work under Linux.
