LOL yeah, it's not the greatest. I borrowed a Kill a watt from my grandfather but haven't shut down my pc to use it yet

There are cheap UPS on market (~ 100$ / 6-700W which is a lot for a normal PC + monitor + modem/router) - @Costco they have Cyber Power  (1000 VA) and you are protected, also your power delivery will be much more "clean" plus other benefits :)

My PSU is 750W, plus I'm in Canada. Also a UPS isn't something I would ever cheap out on

According to stats.foldingathome.org my last work unit completed was 3/27, but my logs in advanced control show quite a few units completed, sent, and acknowledged since then.

Is this a known issue?

It's a known issue, I think it shows March 27th as the last WU completition for everyone now. Thankfully EOC exists, which does thankfully still shows information.

Here is your entry on EOC: https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=941268

Keep in mind that website updates every 3 hours, but is also dependent on F@H stats. Apparently F@H is experiencing some issues with the stats, so not everything may be present there.

Just looked at that UPS from Costco. That one has horrible reviews. I'd look at APC instead.

1. you psu is 750W but the efficiency is what ? can your system pull 750W ? ... I doubt that you need 750W :) I have a power hungry CPU and a power hungry GPU and still don't get close to 750W (more like ... high 5 / low 6)

2. Is fine .. I just gave an example - I am sure you can buy from amazon :)

3. cheap in the sense - affordable, not cheaply made :) ... probably one of the best "consumer" based UPS's are APC .. so if you don;t want to pay 100$ go for double the price APC ones - I use both Cyber Power and APC since a few years now (4ish) in this house and I didn't had a issue

So it turns out once you take over the CPU fan control from Lenovo (which is of course not exposed even in the BIOS, they don't even report RPM) and just stick it on a Noctua LNA adapter...

cool.PNG.ddc6dae3ad67ae78b606410fc7a05775.PNG

Stupid leftover workstation problems...  It is a little noisier now, but if it's stable that's more important.  I may finally be approaching stability on all three rigs now.

R5 3600, 5700 XT, AX370 K7...  and that's plenty for me.  If you ignore the masses of other parts I occasionally put together and laugh about.

Do you have so often power outages in Murrica?

Here in central Europe we probably have one in 10 years... so no need for an ups for normal people.

some its mostly to protect my investment as we have spikes and brownouts etc. especially during our nice storms  and most of our power in my area is above ground with a lot o trees

Every week or so. We didn't have to rebuild a large portion of our country with newer tech after it was destroyed from war, though. Thinking at this point that would be cheaper than paying people to upgrade it tbh.

Often, not necessarily. Can vary by region. But for example, I live in an old home that I rent. So I am very wary of the wiring and since I rent the home, replacing the wiring is not a great idea. So I use a ups to help regulate flow to my important electronics. Is it REALLY needed, not necessarily. But do I sleep better leaving my expensive desktop on with it in place, yes.

Depends a lot on your location and service type.  Mine is underground, which is usually better.  Unfortunately it seems like I have 5-10 minute outages once every few months.  I only have one UPS though, and it runs my modem & router.  I just let the computers crash out ungracefully...

Since I moved to Michigan, my power stability has for sure been worse.  NY was more reliable, but I was in the country, not in a city.

R5 3600, 5700 XT, AX370 K7...  and that's plenty for me.  If you ignore the masses of other parts I occasionally put together and laugh about.

Whow the user base is still growing...i hope more and more people e.g. Youtubers will promote F@H.

I want to see 1 million active users😮.

How cool would that be to establish F@H as the new weapon in research!!!

Hopefully we all will find a solution against Covid-19.

F@H would get more money better Servers, Software ect. and way more people to work on the results.

Next target .... eliminate fxxxing Cancer.

Together we can make it happen!

I am so proud of this community and all of the scientists behind the scenes!!! You guys rock!
