I got thinking and have to say this: i feel Linus is looking at this thread Dying inside at our cables i haven't seen any pics of people using custom cables.

that being said i wont as it cost more money and i dont care about the look that much...sorry LTT Sponsors...

To my defense, I built this machine when I got home from a seven day cruise to find my PC wouldn't post, so this was sorta thrown together.  I would like to finish it though.

If you were in my spot would you be looking for a new case or new fans?

Hah, I might consider it on my next build, haven't really looked at what it would cost though. No way I'm putting that into a system I've had since 2013. Every upgrade I've made since I originally put it together would easily transfer to a new build.

Nice, I have smaller - limited space Corsair Crystal 280x matx case, and this event "force" me to make it cleaner and cooler by moving CPU rad to the "back"

Really not impressed with my case anymore... Phanteks Eclipse P400S... Always thought my machine ran warm but folding showed temps that I felt were a little too unreasonable.  When I started was seeing temps near 197 Freedom.  It has one fan in the front pulling, cpu pulling, psw pushing out and the back fan pushing out.  Took the glass off and now it stays steady at full load @  186 Freedom but avg 165.  Don't know if I should start looking for a box or a few more fans.  My office is staying at an uncomfortable 86 F.

Sorta excited I'm in the top 300 with my modest rig running at half throttle.

Pull the front panel so it runs like a P400A.  Miles better.  I think I heard something about being able to contact their support line to get the mesh front panel.  Worth looking into at least.

Look at how many CPU projects there are!!

https://apps.foldingathome.org/project?p=14332

I'm switching my CPU from R@H to folding now. This seems promising.

Desktop 2 : i5 10400 | 32GB DDR4-3200(@ 2667Mhz) |  EVGA GTX 1070 SC 8 GB | Corsair CV450M

Went from rank 211 in the event yesterday all the way to 95 today. I am already over 400k over the listed amount in the day 2 listing. Love doing this with you all to find a cure. We nerds are amazing and we are the ones that will help the brave front liners find that cure.

I used to have a CLC, they look nice, but the pump died on mine just outside of Corsair's 5 year warranty, and because I was an idiot and didn't set the software to warn me when the pump was dead, the way I found out was when I was playing Rainbow Six Siege with a friend and he was getting better FPS with a lower end graphics card, which lead me to discover that my 3770K CPU was running at 90 C/194 F and doing a bit of thermal throttling as a result. So I switched to a Noctua because I much prefer the idea of replacing cheap fans rather than the entire cooler.

As for the 0RPM setting, doesn't really do anything negative for me. My SSDs are mounted behind my motherboard.

Theres honestly part of me impressed it still ran with the dead pump dude lol, even with thermal throttling and a dead pump

Also... for anybody whoe remember me mentioned an old E2160, I worked to restored that machine just for fun a was able to do it... but to worth it for F@H XD (look that ETA, jumps between 1.87 and 2.27 days), also confirmed what something so old like a 8400 GS is not working for the project. In the plus side... was pleasantly surprised with that machine being able to run 1080p Youtube videos.

It can. I used my HD7970 alongside my 1080Ti for a while but the card died during the last event. I think it was something like 175K PPD, but that was Core 21. Wouldn't surprise me if it could get around 200-250k now with Core 22.

That card in the picture certainly doesn't look like a HD7970 though o.O

Yeah, and that's with a 4.2 GHz overclock. I was annoyed the pump died sure, but I was very happy that my CPU didn't fry like a chicken wing at KFC. Granted in theory it would have just shut the whole computer off if it got that hot. Actually had a friend call me once because his computer wasn't booting to Windows, come to learn he took it apart and put it back together, heatsink wasn't making proper contact so it was reaching thermal shutoff before even booting fully into Windows 7. That core2duo chip continued to work fine till it was ultimately replaced with something better.
