LTT Folding Team's Emergency Response to Covid-19

Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

This event has ended and I recommend you guys head over to the Folding Community Board for any general folding conversation.

If I may ask, why are you using those settings for folding then? For efficiency? Or noise/heat reduction?

6 minutes ago, TVwazhere said:

I power limit my 1070ti's to 60% power, but overclock them +150 on the core because they will otherwise sit in the 1600mhz range and never hit the power limit. (screen shot shows 50% but I've bumped it since then for stability)

-snip-

ITNOS sits in the basement so I never have to worry about fan noise, but I do set reasonable fan curves as to not 100% fan curve my fans to death!

I could change the settings on my 1070, but even if I wanted to change the settings of my 1080Ti, Precision X1 crashes immediately when I try to apply any changes to my 1080TI..... x)

I intend to run both GPU's 24/7 for the event, so noise/heat as the pc is right next to me on my table and after 50% fans the 1080TI starts to morph into a jet engine, which hinders my current working from home :P

Exactly my thinking @TVwazhere, all my systems are running full power, highest stable OC and 100% fan curve, but my gaming PC is running that only during the day.

However, during night, I go for +75 CC, +250 MC, 50% fan speed (almost silent) on my 1080 Ti and I limit it to ~75% (found that to be best).

I am not really sure why would you @SpiritWrath lower your CC and MC so much...

We've updated the OP in that thread for clarity on Event Badges.

On 6/2/2019 at 12:55 PM, alpenwasser said:

F@H Event Badge Thresholds

These are special badges handed out for participating in the official Folding events organised by the Folding community. These badges will be handed out automatically after the events to eligible participants (subject to individual event guidelines and requirements).

  • image.png.0acc24e952a5bf918454e0683f36848d.pngEvent Founder - A unique badge only available to those who participated in the first event.
  • image.png.a6ea9cbf8a75f5a11073fc709db607d7.pngEvent Newbie - For participating in at least 1 Folding event.
  • image.png.c55b2b302c2de6f7a76982598b8e0012.pngEvent Veteran - For participating in at least 3 Folding events.
  • image.png.bfba76cdb672bed6e15393e1451c8483.pngEvent Fanatic - For participating in at least 5 Folding events.

Below is the list of Official Folding Events that have counted toward the Folding Event badges. To be an Official Folding Event, they must specifically be endorsed by LMG, so Folding Events like the Summer Sprint of 2019 do not count towards obtaining these badges. Additionally, on top of folding and meeting the minimum requirements for the event, you must make sure you sign up specifically to be tracked for the event; we do not track every LTT user simply was folding at the time of the event (this has caused much confusion in the past).

I tried it before a few years ago and for a reason I don't quite remember disliked it. So far I had no problems with Precision X1, but on the other hand this is the first time I used 2 GPU's at the same time. I guess I could give Afterburner a retry.

As for why I have CC and MC so low? Honestly, I read that people underclocked their GPU's because of thermals/fan noise, so I just yanked it to the left and it worked/was stable, so I left it there.... Maybe not the smartest choice in general, but eh x) (I have really not much of a clue about GPU over- or underclocking, so yeah.)

I personally use MSI Afterburner where I can. Only reason I'm using XOC is because EVGA's ICX cooler designs allow separate control of the fan speeds, which MSI Afterburner doesn't detect, so only one of the two (or in the 1080ti FTW3's case, three) fans spin and the other(s) are just set to 0 rpm or barely spinning.

Oh jaysus, I think my X99 motherboard's USB ports are going. It's not just the mouse that's randomly reconnecting, and losing the ability to press some buttons. Happening to external drives, and my keyboard. When it happens to the keyboard it decided to get a keystuck.

Gotta lock windows, unplug the USB devices, and plug them back in; or restart.

This damn board is pushing 6 years, it better last for this folding challenge, and until Zen3 is out!

Now I just need my PSU to blow as well....please no.

I am aware that MSI Afterburner is well liked in the Gaming Community as well, I just remember having tried it and not liking it.
I just downloaded it and spun it up, I'll give it a try for now.

Btw, I undid my downclocks on the 1080TI for now, temps are looking good, but that's most likely because the 1070 isn't getting work atm...

I'm using the Blue Tech skin now.

I hope I didn't dislike it just for the default interface, but it might be the reason, as I said I can't quite remember, haha.
