Looking to upgrade/ virtualize pc

So I am at the point now where I have gotten the idea to setup my pc as a VM and was wondering if my idea was a good one or if I should find alternative routes. I was thinking of upgrading my current build (Be Quiet Dark rock Pro 4, Ryzen 2600x, Gigabyte X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING (rev. 1.0), Trident Z 16GB RAM 3200mhz, Gtx 1070, 250GB samsung 970 boot drive, 1TB samsung 970 steam drive, 1TB WD blue storage, 2TB WD black storage) To a 3900x and 32 gb of ram, to create multiple VMs on my main machine instead of building a pc for every little thing on my network. I was looking to turn it into like 4 cores for gaming, 4 cores for game server, 2 for VM overhead, and 2 for NAS. I'm just not sure about what would be a good VM software to use of if this would this be a good idea? If not what would be a better alternative for around the $700 price range?

I would personally say keep your current system as is (so you don't have to deal with the VM fuckery everyday).

 

Build a seperate system with something like a ryzen 3600 to run all your other VMs like your NAS, game serrver etc. Use Limetech Unraid to set up all the VMs

If you're willing to run GNU/Linux as the host you can use QEMU and use GPU pass-though for a high performance gaming VM then divvy-up the resources for everything else that doesn't need a GPU.
