Without seeing the video yet, Imma assume it's got no cache, it's 120GB or so capacity-wise and achieves something around 200MB/s speeds. Should be perfectly fine for plenty of things, like e.g. for running Pfsense off of.

1.) You cant find $20 SSDs atm unless they are literal trash (or you buy in bulk) - they are around $23 or so atm.

2.) All of my 120-128gb SSD's perform amazing compared to an HDD

3.) Who is FattyDove Racing SSD and why would anyone in their right mind (at least semi informed) purchase that due to just the branding being so obscure?  

 

I haven't watched video, but price wise at $20 they make amazing boot drives imho.

I would. I've actually bought a few random, low-end Chinese SSDs with weird brand-names. I use more reliable brands for my desktop and such, but the cheap ones are great for all sorts of projects, as scratch-disks, for portable drives and so on, ie. stuff where long-term reliability isn't that important. That said, none of them have exhibited any unwanted behaviour, let alone failed, yet, so even reliability doesn't actually seem as bad as one might think, in my experience.

I don't disagree with your assessment, I owned Patriot and Team Group etc before they went popular (due to pricing lol) and love/d the experience - just surprised (not unpleasantly) that a popular channel would pick such an obscure one (brand) and then title it so generically to test.

My laptop has 256GB NVMe drive from Hynix. After taking laptop apart I found out it's actually a DRAM-less unit. It's literally empty PCB with single NAND chip on it. I literally don't even remember seeing SSD controller so it must be some ultra tiny controller chip that didn't even poke me in the eyes. It's actually pretty fast considering I've been testing laptops with DRAM-less SSD's that were so shit it took Windows Update like 20x longer to finish than even regular HDD. Here, for the minimum abuse it gets in a laptop, it's actually as responsive as my brutus Samsung 850 pro 2TB in my main PC. So, given its behavior, I actually don't mind it being DRAM-less. Would prefer if it had it out of habit, but it performs well anyway so who cares.

I had a netbook with some slow 60gb 1,8" zif-harddisk and I tried to replace it with something bigger and faster. I ended up buying a cheap 128gb msata ssd and additionaly an adapter zif2msata for less than $20 in total.

I have a Crucial BX300 120GB and supposedly is DRAM-Less but it actually is a lot faster than my HDD, so why is that?

PS: My Mobo is SATA2

I bought a $20 SSD today too! A 250GB Samsung 840, used of course. Probably has more life left in it than any new drive of the same price.
