If you could learn it quickly.. Wouldn't others also learn it quickly to do that work themselves..?

 

I mean, maybe you could do it. But keep in mind freelance work doesn't only require knowledge of what you're creating, but also business knowledge, how to advertise yourself, etc.

Not saying this is not feasible, just saying you should consider the different aspects to this.

Can YOU?  I don't know, that depends on your capacity to not only learn, but understand, so that you can apply - a programming language.  

 

If you have zero understanding of this, I can only compare you to me - if this was me I would not be able to easily learn, understand, and apply this language to monetary gain for some time (and my brother is a programmer, designs and sells Apps etc on the side) - I could probably create stuff, but sell stuff - that depends on your local market as well - and people these days, in a business sense (unless it was a mom/pop shop) isn't going to utilize a 14 year old.

I WILL hire you to cut my grass and clean up my yard tho.  Labor is what young kids excel at, why not start there?

Please do not feel discouraged to try your hand at learning to program, but don't learn it with the main goal of making money right now. I just do not feel like it's feasible. But feel free to make up your own mind about it.

If you want to make money, it's probably even easier to do thing like reselling of 2nd hand items (buy low (in bulk) sell high) or even just 'regular chores' for people.

Or look if you can get a more simple entry-level job (like supermarket work) right now.

 

But be sure to focus on school as well.

I can't imagine you'll develop the skills fast enough to earn quick cash soon.  If you want quick cash soon then you have to utilize a skill you have now.  What can you honestly say that you can do well and that others can't or don't like doing?

There's a plethora of services that can teach you the basics of programming, some free, some not. I would recommend Code Academy as a free service to grasp general concepts of how programming works. However, if you're trying to make money to buy a PC doing this, you're going to soon realize it's going to take a ton of work of studying to actually grasp languages enough to actually make money doing freelance work. With this in mind, you should also note that entry-level freelance programming is probably going to be a competitive place going up against people who have portfolios of coding projects, git repositories, etc. 

 

All of this is time consuming work, which if you're willing to put up with, is beneficial, but if all you're trying to achieve is buying a gaming PC by quickly learning a programming language, then you're going to have a rough time doing so.

I would recommend against it. Quickly learning a programming language and hacking something together may be doable, but there are other considerations.

 

Most companies want to see a certain track record before they're going to take you on. Especially if you are young and have no formal education.

 

As others have said, you'll also need to be able to understand business requirements, discuss them with your employer and be able to discuss why some things may not be feasible. That takes a lot of practice. Especially if you are young and inexperienced you'll have a hard time to project some authority.

 

You'll also need to be able to work out a contract so your employer doesn't take advantage of you and protect you against damages so far as possible.

 

What happens if your app has a bug and that causes your employer to lose thousands or tens of thousands of dollars? Do you want that kind of responsibility? Do you have a good lawyer at hand?

Learning to code is not hard and if you are interested in coding I would highly recommend learning it. Coding for money however is something I cannot recommend. There are so many issues that start popping up when you work for someone else:

• You cannot program just what you like
• You must make sure your code does not break anything the customer is using already like other modules etc.
• You must make sure the code is not breaching any security protocols the customer might have
• You must debug the code properly
• You must document the code
• You must be able to predict the time needed to complete your task
• You must stick to deadlines
• You must be able to make a realistic offer to the customer

There is just so much more than just coding to making money with coding. My suggestion: Learn to code if you are interested and if you keep it up you can make a lot of money with it after a few years but find another, quicker way to finance your rig.
