It's up to you but Linus put out a video recently saying the corona virus has hit production in china and so supply and demand issues will push prices up.

So it might be better to buy things now before they do.

I'm an IT System Admin with 15+ years worth of XP, plus I've been tinkering computers since I was old enough to hold a screwdriver, so I usually know what I'm talking about.

if you can wait or tolerate for an extended period past whenever that launches (think Q4), you should wait. buying the current generation does not impact how much the next generation would perform.

however, if you need--

(emphasis on need: you don't need 144fps, but you need a PC to do whatever homework that demands for one)

--a build up and running within the year, forget about "the new and hotness" and buy parts as you go along

Linus did briefly mention that point, but here's that in 30 or so more minutes

It depends.

What's your use case, do you currently have adequate equipment? How budget sensitive are you?

Me at age 15 had near 0 budget and I had to time around releases and look for sales.

Me right now could buy current  (overkill) rig dozens of times over.

The consensus recently is that there has not been much of a price drop as the new cards go in at a higher price point.

This is a double whammy for consumers, is it likely to change? I can’t predict that...

Then wait 5-10 months.

Do note that ddr4 and SSDs will likely get pricier.
