Is Windows XP Good for this?

Windows XP will almost certainly boot on that config, but you may run into trouble with drivers on something that new. But yes, Windows XP will be a great option for your use, especially with that 1GB of RAM. Just keep in mind if you upgrade the CPU then XP may not see massive performance boots from the hyperthreading of an i7, since it was made to run on single core CPUs.

Hello peoples,

I am building a software based DMX lighting controller. My current specs for it are,

Intel Core i5 4th gen

Dell Optiplex board

1GB RAM

256 GB HDD

The software will be moderately intense and will have to process many lighting values at once. The system will never connect to the internet, and Windows XP was the most stable version of Windows ever.

Does what I am doing sound like XP would be the best option?
