I'm building my first PC... Buy list?

this is more than any gaming system needs to be but I'll give 2 options. better cpu vs better GPU.

Like I said, I'm doing my first build. I've seen plenty of videos so I definitely understand the 'how' but my main problem is the 'what' I guess. Since I've never really done this I have no clue where to start with buying parts. If anyone has a buy or part list for me that would be great. This goes without saying but I'm starting from scratch, so that means I'm gonna need a motherboard/case, etc... Thanks ahead of time to anyone who responded!

(Edit:) I ALMOST FORGOT, I'm trying to build a gaming desktop. not exactly state of the art but I need it to be formidable. If anyone wants I can clarify precise specs that I'd prefer.

USA... $1,500-$2,500 US... and just about anything better than mid-high tier. I'm not looking for a super computer just the best I just need to out perform your average gaming PC.

This would work really well, handle gaming and streaming without problem and render/blender if you are into that.

Keep in mind that new Intel and AMD CPU should be out this year as long as new nVidia and AMD GPU.

Something's wrong with your 2TB HDD storage price, 220$ is excessive to say the least.

Ram latency is meh.

Overkill wattage too.

And a more expensive motherboard that is not as good as the Prime-P :/

Overall overpriced.

That's a really great build and I might go with it for my second build (for my partner). She's not getting a PC as good as mine lol

For this one though, I'm gonna go with GDRRiley's. Thank you again for the suggestion, I'm sure she'll love it. (She's probably gonna mainly use it for SecondLife and Siege so I'm not worried she'll think I'm blowing her off.)

See my comment above then, his build is just overpriced for the exact same performance :/

spend the extra if you want.

750W is okay with an overclocked CPU+GPU

board should be changed, I didn't see the time prime P while looking.

Just keep in mind you have worse ram with those build.

3900x with 2070S will give less performance than a 3700x+2080S.

AIO is unnecessary as both CPUs come with a CPU cooler.

3700x or 3900x in game have a margin performance between them (hell even a 3600 is on par for gaming).

Just keep that in mind before buying anything.

change out the ram easy.

yes it will give less FPS but I didn't want to tunnel the build in. in 2 years buy a new GPU and you'll be fine hell 4 years and 2 GPU upgrade and you should be great still.

the extra money on a 2080S doesn't make a ton of sense its another 200$ for a bit faster card.

The cooler doesn't do well with OC or even allowing the chips to boost fully. if you don't like AIOs get a good air cooler from noctua or be quite.

most but not all games.

I'm going to do somewhat of a composite being that I'll be keeping the SSD/HDD from my current rig, I don't need storage. Then I'm gonna put a 500GB HDD in my current and sell it to buy the rest on a mixture of your list and GDRRiley's (basically the best of each) and I'm not exactly comfortable with installing liquid cooling yet, so there's that. Basically, all of my experience comes from frankenstein'ing my past PC's together into what I have now.

Yes that's why I'm telling him so he has the full spectrum before he goes, maybe he'll go 3900x+2080S with AIO anyway :P

Then for good air cooler you have the Noctua NH D15/S/Chromax and the Bequiet! Dark Rock Pro 4, they are on par but Noctua comes with a longer warranty.

The Dark Rock 4 and NH U14S are still good too for less.

okay well we both probably could have done better with that knowledge.

an AIO is just a sealed cooler. they are often easier than air coolers to install and most have a 5-7 year life.

Yes nowadays they are quite good and reliable, I still prefer air cooling because it's cheaper and you just need to change the fan/s if it fails.

Yeah, I probably should have clarified that before hand. I notice people tend to be more... what's the word... Descriptive when I start off with that though so I usually wait until I have to correct someone so I don't feel like I'm having my hand held lol
