High end Computer giving low fps?

Hello Everyone,

 

I have had my pre-built gaming computer and it's not running how it should, low fps on some old games,  Any ideas? I can give more information if needed

My computer specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7GHz

Graphics Card: Radeon 5700XT 8GB

RAM: Crossair Vengeance 3000MHz (1x16GB)

Motherboard: MSI B450M Pro-M2

Power Supply: 650W Corair

----------------------------------

When playing games CPU is at 60% and GPU at 50%.

Could my ram be casuing this low fps in games?

I have watched youtube videos and my fps should be higher than this

Assassin's Creed Origins: 50fps Low setting.

Watch dogs 2: 50fps low setting

Far cry 5 : 50fps

This is weird a few minutes ago I saw post with the same specs and a 5700XT I think it’s something with the GPU

assassin's creed origins low setting in big areas. 43 fps.

This gpu is so strange. I'm so ready to switch GPU at this point.

Knowing AC Orgins this probaly isn't the GPU's fault as AC Origins is really CPU intensive,especially in large areas

I would bet you'd get the same FPS if your settings are set to medium or high at 1440p

I mean if you have them why not put them in your computer. But if your planning on buying more RAM just to get dual channel, I wouldn't do it

Okay. That was the plan. What would you say is wrong with the computer. Games like Euro truck sim 2 work fine. Far New Dawn at high setting gave me 60fps. Its is strange.

In my experience. Ubisoft games in general are really poorly CPU optimized so you 100% have a CPU bottleneck. If you turn your settings up your pretty much guranteed to get the same result

Check your running in high performance windows power management mode, check your ram is actually running at 3000*hz, check for driver updates and pretty much all system drivers, like chipset, gpu drivers, etc.

It could definitely be the single channel memory holding you back. Also make sure you've all the latest drivers installed.

Doesn't Ryzen perform a lot better with dual channel ram?

Is has been ubisoft games. Maybe it's my ram and cpu?

I was thinking this, my CPU and GPU run at 60% and 70%. I've made sure my ram is running at 3000Mhz it doesnt really do much. I only have two 4gb sticks from my old gaming computer would that maybe help?

Worth trying. Even dual channel 2133 has more bandwidth than single channel 3000

Your cpu could be throttling, as that board isn't very good in terms of VRM. Also as mentioned, a single stick of ram isn't ideal.

So what would I do? Set everything myself in the bios.

I think you can check the cpu performance in MSI Afterburner. If the clock speed is dropping then that could indicate throttling. A fan placed over the VRM area can help with temps.

so yeah, a second 16GB 3000 dimm would be nice
